Will there be any stats during games this year? Who was on the mound for HC? Holy Cross did a pitcher per inning when possible....Terrible idea in my opinion. Only a terrible idea if you prioritize winning a non-conference game in February over the long-term health of your top pitcher(s).

I just believe your pitchers need to be stretched out to start the season. Next weekend, you can't do pitcher by committee for three straight games against Auburn.

To quote Jimy Williams: "What little league team do you coach?"

Easy there 94. Clearly there are two points of view here and another College manager playing in the same game took a different approach. Don't think belittling him with Jimy Williams is called for. Just two different approaches.

Just two different approaches. I just found it odd since next weekend you need to get at least five innings out of your top three starters. The pitchers after being taken out of the game were still throwing bullpens to get their throwing in.

Perhaps the coach will throw multiple pitchers next weekend

I get it but am sure Coach DiCenzo has a reason and a very good handle on what he wanted to accomplish today.

To quote Jimy Williams: "What little league team do you coach?" Oh, so you're saying the CentConn coach was wrong? What little league team do you coach?

We can disagree but just my thinking that you need to get more work for your number 1 guy for Friday night.

I just believe your pitchers need to be stretched out to start the season. Next weekend, you can't do pitcher by committee for three straight games against Auburn. 10 guys on the HC staff got to throw off a mound outdoors to live hitters. 4 guys on CCSU. I'd say that's an advantage for Holy Cross going forward. Nobody is going to get "stretched out" in 1 game in Feb.

I tend to agree but surprisingly lafayette went with their no.1 pitcher (Hauck sp?) against notre dame in san antonio last friday and he pitched one hit ball over eight innings in the 'pards 10-2 win. don't know what kind of prep he would have had indoors to be able to go that long. but a nice 'W' for the league

If DiCenzo takes a more conservative approach than your average college manager and limits his pitchers' innings early in the year even if it means sacrificing a couple of potential wins, I'm fine with that. Better for the pitchers and hopefully better for us come PL tourney time which are the only games that really matter as long as we win enough others to get there.

Lafayette played ND as part of a doubleheader (then lost the 2nd game 24-6). You can't pitch by committee in that situation. DiCenzo was in an entirely different situation and treated the CCSU game as more of an exhibition game. Smart move in my opinion.
