Auburn is 4-1 so far this season. preview of the series below, and interesting that it shows phil reese as our starter today and our ace brendan king pitching tmro. weather will be good, high 70's today and low 60's for the weekend with no rain in the forecast. www.auburntigers.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/022317aaa.html

Is Reese our captain? Didn't he pitch the opener last year? Game on radio from Auburn site I believe.

Chu, you might consider waiting until after the game(s) before you do that.

Why isn't he pitching in Game 1? IMO, it sets a poor tone when we "run and hide" with our Ace for a (presumably) weaker starter from the opponent in Game 2. Whether our schedule says we went 1-2 or 0-3 this weekend is not as important as setting the tone for the season, and we miss out on a chance at trying to punch the "giant" in the mouth to start it off.

2 Freshman in the lineup and a Soph who had 0 ab's last year. Going to be tough scoring runs until Critelli gets back I think.

What difference does it make? That's a winning attitude! What difference does it make that we're "afraid" to pitch our Ace against their Ace? Perhaps it contributes to our mindset that has rendered us unable to win a 6-team league in 9 attempts?

You're playing a 3 game series, where you start King vs. Reese makes zero difference.

having a bad day, bbcaro ? really silly since when is our ooc scheduling 'run and hide' - have you forgotten who we've played in the recent past ? i suppose you know that auburn's no.2 starter is far inferior to their no.1. it's february and you've only got complaints. cool it for about a month and then chime in with your objective analysis.

A 3 games series with a team who on paper is a far superior team. Neither you nor I know why the pitching rotation is as it is but I can tell you this "punching the giant in the mouth" is silly. I would have no problem if our coach thought our #1 could beat their #2 and set the rotation that way to get at least 1 win. Don't you think their 1,2,3 are likely better then our 1,2,3? Why lose 3 games when you can strategically try to win 1 and possibly 2 games? If this was a 1 gamer, totally agree to put #1 vs. #1.

If we get to the NCAA tourney, I hope we start Reese in game 1 and King in game 2.
Any idea when Critelli is coming back?
I heard Ben White was rehabbing. True or not?

We need to win the PL Championship to get to the NCAAs and we are going to be one of the last seeds in the tournament regardless of if we win 1 or 2 vs Auburn. Like others who don't understand why we bunt with our #3 hitter, I wonder why we save our best pitcher to face someone other than the opposing team's Ace. When it comes down to the PL Tournament, we're going to need to beat "their best" with "our best." I don't understand why we wouldn't want to simulate that every opportunity that we have. Simple as that.

Unlike some of the goofy basketball stats that we used to pump ourselves up, in baseball to bunt the way we do is proven from time immemorial to be a bad strategy. Us beating auburn 1 of 3 is like us beating bc, umass and uri 1 of 3 in basketball. Going in if you told me we would win a game I would have been happy. I have no objections saving king for game 3 weather permitting.

Simple as that. Again, we have no idea why king is pitching game 2 instead of fame 1. This isn't the NCAAs or the PL tourney. Winning game 1 vs winning game 2 is irrelevant. What would be relevant if we do make the NCAAs is having a win vs an SEC school, and maybe starting King game 2 helps. Unless he was going to throw 10innings of scoreless baseball, it looks like Dicenzo made the right choice.
