So sayeth Tim Cluess from Iona. www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Siena-men-fall-in-overtime-to-Iona-in-MAAC-final-10981995.php
Nice to see Patsos take the responsibility for the loss on his coaching decision. Not sure I agree with him but he showed class in taking responsibility.
Love the sign the Siena kids had" Iona wears Franciscan Purple, gives you a sense of the rivalry within the MAAC. If anyone thought Fran McCaffrey was hated, you never saw Jeff Ruland although Sarasota may disagree.
ESPN2 announcers were terrific. Sadly, I am in Florida and wasn't at the game. I am flying back on Thursday (before our condo lease ends on Saturday) so as not to miss the St. Patrick's Day parade as a man has to have his priorities.

Bucknell is better than both of these teams. Argument can be made that Lehigh is, too.

As you may remember last season's PLT This post is sarcastic--and sounds pompous to me Weren't some of your recent posts relying on Pomeroy's analytics ?

As you may remember last season's PLT sometimes you can be sarcastic--and pompous Weren't some of your recent posts relying on Pomeroy's analytics ? Not directed at you, but rather at those who poo-pooed some former American teams simply because of their KenPom ranking. KenPom's analytics can provide some very interesting insights and data points, but some like to use them as sole data points, which can be misleading.

Disagree the '02-'03 AU team was "particularly good." the HC team that beat them in the final was very good, ask Dwayne Wade I went to the horse palace in Maryland to see the quarters and semis. HC was playing very well going into the final. It took a terrific final game(I was there) with a raucous HC crowd and 2 end of game K Hamilton steals to win by 8. AU played a very solid game.--a "particularly good" team. That was HC's 12th straight win; the best HC team I have seen in at least 25 years.

Bucknell is better than both of these teams. Argument can be made that Lehigh is, too. I'm not sure I can respond to that as it looks, from the PL website that the PL championship game between the 2 Pennsylvania teams is on CBSSports, not either ESPN or ESPN2 and I don't think the cable provider in this condo carries that channel Anybody know what channel it might be in Indian rocks beach?

It doesn't matter that the 2001-02 AU team was 18-12, PL regular season champs and won at Florida State (yes, I know Florida State was 12-17 that year, but they were still an ACC school and one of their dozen wins that year was over number one Duke; I guess there have been a bunch of PL road wins at ACC schools over the years?). Maybe if we'd held on after leading y'all with a minute to go in the '02 PL final, we'd have passed muster. It doesn't matter that the '04 team went 18-13, including a win over #86 East Tennessee State and a four-point loss at Notre Dame, and lost the PL title game at Lehigh by two on a shot with seven seconds left. None of AU's teams back then were particularly good, despite making three straight PL finals and losing them by a total of 14 points. It has been decided by Ken Pomeroy and Bison. Appreciate you sharing your "faulty" memories, though. We thought they were pretty good back then, too.

Who is the cable provider? Spectrum CBSSN is 772 on Charter Spectrum. It's an add-on as part of a sports pkg. Not part of standard channel offerings.

NJJ gives the most detailed, comprehensive post game wrap ups I've ever seen anywhere. I understand the value of the metrics, but if anyone would have non hazy recollections of his school, its him.

Just for perspective, while the 2001-2002 and 2003-2004 AU Eagles may have been a very talented team, capable of the big wins and close losses NJJ cites, they also had some puzzling losses
2001-2002 AU lost to #224 Howard, #201 Wagner, and twice to #238 Lafayette
2003-2004 AU lost to #225 Fairleigh Divkinson, #252 Elon, #269 St Francis, #218 Lafayette, #205 Bucknell, and twice to #241 Lehigh
On this board, many subscribe to the belief that "you are what your record says you are".......
