When you're creating an image--which is what the Hart improvement is--scoreboards are a significant part of the effort. Holding off on the scoreboards hurts the impact of the new image. Shortsighted. the video board should be in place when we start recruiting bball players again

As I understand it, the videoboard(s) will be at one end, the east end of the court. The videoboard could not be installed this year as they have to cut holes in the east wall, as the upper level will have access to the athletic department suite. Whether they can install a videoboard on the west side is uncertain, because of the Bud Ryan room. And as I also understand it, a videoboard at center court requires the roof be raised. The roof is the biggest problem with the arena, IMHO. Had the damn place not had a seat more added to it in the original construction but a higher ceiling a lot more could have been done to the place over the years. Back on the old board, and early in the design, i.e., during DR and Fr. McF, there were discussions of doing to the Hart what St. Joe's had done, blowing out two walls and raising the roof. IIRC, copying them would get you to 4,000+ seats, with a lot more seatbacks. That was also a time when some envisioned HC being part of the NBE and the only team playing in the Hart would be the women's. Getting the Hart to 5-6,000 seats means a whole new arena. St. Joe's increased to 4250 with seatbacks. Note the height of the videoboard above center court. Before:

I'd settle for being able to beat St. Joes.

I'd settle for being able to beat St. Joes. We will have to play them first.
