With that play, it all started with that tremendous court awareness. That alone in my mind takes "luck" out of the equation; he processed things just a little quicker than Hass did.
And the shot itself- going from memory here (always dangerous), but even with the pressure of the ticking clock, he got his body squared up perfectly. If you cut out everything but the shot, it looks like a well executed squared up stationary jumper from the corner. Unreal.
1970 - agree about next year. As my old high school football coach used to say: "you guys better buckle up your chinstraps!"

Mike Gminski during the Southern game...Holy Cross had no one on the PL 1st team, no one on the PL 2nd team and no one on the PL 3rd team. The pre-season picks could be interesting

I was clerking the Passaic County T+F Championships yesterday and one girl had a Bucknell shirt and cap on before her race. A top runner, she will go to BU on scholarship next year. We chatted about the PL and she brought up the PL tournament game. She said that several of the athletes she has met from BU brought up the game and said that everyone on campus was looking forward to competing with HC next season and "setting things right" as to which team is best. I hope that translates into better (and loud) crowds for each BU/HC match-up. I'm going to call BS on her getting a full ride to run track at Bucknell. Nobody gets a full athletic scholarship to run at virtually any level. Call it whatever you wish, but perhaps try to find more tasteful classification for her comment. She will be running for Bucknell and will not have to pay any tuition. BTW, were you there? If not, how do you have such certain knowledge of this young woman's position. Could part of the money have been from an award? Possibly. I am just quoting her. BTW, she is an outstanding athlete who would be welcome at any other PL school. interesting that her comment (only a side item in post about the BU reaction to last year's basketball game) bothered you enough that you had to post and call it BS. Why the "hating" of this girl? PS: If no one gets a fun ride for running at "virtually any level," does that mean that some do at some level? As an outstanding student as well as athlete, perhaps some of the money comes for academic reasons. If you are that bothered by the "full scholarship" reference, just delete the word "full." Better? It makes no difference to the purpose of the post.

The pre-season picks could be interesting Malachi was the only player in the conference who finished among the top 15 in points (11th), assists (9th), and rebounds (6th). I'd be surprised if he wasn't named to pre-season 1st team. Rob and Karl should be in the mix for notice as well.

Perhaps the practice has been phased out, but I thought it was fairly common at the big boys to give out a track scholarship to a two sport athlete who also happened to be a really good wide receiver. Basically an underhanded way to give out an extra football scholarship

I saw that the Mr. Maloney hoops award went to Cullen. I noticed that it was presented by someone who looked like Mr.Maloney's son, Richard Jr., an HC grad from the late 50s.i did not see any caption to the photo.
