Here is new UMass coach Matt McCall's actual MoU. Thought some of you may find it interesting. I get a kick out of how little academic incentive there is. Just win and fill the seats. Academics is almost an afterthought, and I'm sure contracts at most schools are sadly similar. : www.scribd.com/mobile/document/344746186/Matt-McCall-MOU

I have often said that a contract is a contract and in the cases of both Coach Kearney and Coach Brown that absent some buyout clause, HC would owe the full compensation for the life of the contract and the coach would be barred from coaching for the life of the contract unless after the fact the coach accepted something less than full compensation in exchange for the right to coach.
This would indicate that today standard contracts contain buyout/early contract termination language for both parties.

All the MA state tax payers pay for this. They pay less than $16 per person. That is probably a lower amount/person than many other state universities pay.

All the MA state tax payers pay for this. The state only covers a portion of UMass operating expenses (approx 22%). The university funds the rest via other sources. This would mean that at worst, that about 78% of McCall's salary comes from sources outside of state taxpayers.

OK, then just over $12 per taxpayer...hardly outrageous.

His pkg is a little bit more than what a Full Professor gets at UMass wouldn't you say?

His pkg is a little bit more than what a Full Professor gets at UMass wouldn't you say? If you think that comparison is off the charts, look at what 3,800 undergrad student Providence College pays its head basketball coach Cooley (2M+) and its full professors. I am relatively sure UMass pays its professors far more than PC. PC on the other hand pays it basketball coach three times the salary of the UMass hoops coach.

Because PC is Catholic and therefore top down. I am not sure I understand your post. Is the Pope paid more than Ed Cooley?
