It appears the she is transferring to Bentley, although she did not log a lot of mins, I thought she would be a major contributor if not next year, certainly by her junior year I wish her well twitter.com/maddyspring

I thought, at times, she might have been the best of the bunch (of frosh) last season but this makes some sense as last year's roster was so guard-heavy, there were not enough minutes to go around as long as Gibbons played Doherty and Byrne as much as he did. Still a logjam behind those two who will be seniors next season.

I just can't see a path back to excellence for this program.

To quote Will Munny "Deserve's Got Nothing To Do With It". Too many coaches-in-waiting get bypassed when a program sinks; the prevailing thinking changes from "we want continuity in the program that's done so well" to "we want a fresh start". If Billy leaves with the program in the state it's in now, doesn't look good for her or any other assistant

She's a perfect choice. She's a home town woman. She was an outstanding player. She has a sterling record as a head coach. She is a link to the glory days of womens bball at HC.

She might do well as a head coach, but certainly not a "perfect choice". Was fired by Maine after two losing records as head coach. Her termination was due mostly due an ugly DWI incident. Also curious as to how she is a link to the glory days. Since she has been at HC, they have not contended for the the regular season title and haven't won the tournament. Having said that, in her brief tenure at Maine she did appear to be a good recruiter.

Hmm, yes she had 2 losing seasons but I think there was general agreement when hired that predecessor Sharon Versyp didn't leave a lot of incoming talent and she would likely have a rebuilding season or 2. That team was headed in the right direction progressing from 10-19 to 13-15 with a pretty good income class. I'm not quite sure that the DUI was "ugly" as it was her ass't that was arrested, and yes, AM exercised poor judgement in misidentifying herself.

. I'm not quite sure that the DUI was "ugly" as it was her ass't that was arrested, and yes, AM exercised poor judgement in misidentifying herself. Also used very poor judgement in having her drunk assistant take the wheel while all of them were reportedly drunk, especially given her position as the boss. Also reportedly directed some verbal abuse at the arresting officer. Fwiw, Maine thought it was bad enough to fire her. Not saying, she wouldn't make a good coach - just commenting on the idea that she is a "perfect" choice.
