Contrary to what most Holy Cross and URI fans had thought, Holy Cross will not host Rhode Island at the DCU Center this season. It will most likely occur some other time in the future. The Providence Journal beat writer for URI basketball confirms this: Last year was clearly listed in the ProJo has the first game of a 2 for 1. Either that original article was wrong (and this will be the 3rd consecutive guarantee), this guy is wrong (and URI comes to Worcester), or they're both right and the Worcester game is in year 3 of the series. I wouldn't have any problem with the 3rd option as the 2018-19 edition of the team almost has to be better than the 2017-18 edition and it would increase chance of stealing a game.

HC is at UMASS and at URI this coming year. No other money games will be scheduled for this upcoming season.

We will be playing at Fairleigh Dickinson U, coached by former Blaney assistant, Greg Hernia Yuck (FDU, not Herenda).

I was told by a very good source that at least 4 of the recruits are expected to be ready to contribute right away.

You must be "tight" with CWC. While I am not, my brief conversation with him a couple of weeks ago gave me the same impression while at a PL baseball playoff game. While sad to see the seniors go, he didn't seem at all fazed that there would be a big loss in the experience level. He mentioned Karl Charles as an example of a freshman contributing right away and I think he expects to get similar contributions from the incoming class as a whole. I obviously have lower expectations for next season than he does.

Success next year will be measured by development of the freshman rather than by wins and losses. If the frosh show they can play and gain much needed experience, I can live with a losing record with an eye toward competing at the top of the league the following year.

There isn't much of an option for these freshman is there? They will be required to contribute. If not in success and points then in empty minutes played.

My source says CBC believes we will need "a lot of luck" next year to have a winning record. I agree with that evaluation of the situation.

I think at least 2 to as many as 4 of the six freshmen will have outstanding careers at HC. I hope I'm wrong and it is 5 or 6.
it is good to hear the projections that several will contribute from Day One

I am hearing similar things about the incoming frosh. Saw a couple of players from last year in Hogan. They did look bigger.

If it's true that we are playing FDU, why not at the Hart instead of NJ? Looks like another poor home OOC schedule.

If we are playing Iona and Harvard at home (along with UNH), I don't think the scheduling is off to a bad start Home and home's (assuming that's what FDU is) have to start somewhere. I saw someone mention a "contract" between Vermont and HC on the America East. It may just have been a mistake/misunderstanding, but I would love to see a series with Vermont.

No problem with fdu on the road, just replacing Syracuse. Historically our coaches have not enjoyed those money games.
