highly doubt any football team has their own plane...I don't even think the NE Patriots do (they just charter a commercial plane when they travel). The cost of owning a plane that can seat over 100 people would be insane. I think I read that Delta Airlines has a department assigned to sports team (pro and college) transportation with specially configured planes. See below a link to some photos of the team arriving in Fla for the national championship game. You have to figure if Alabama does not have its own team plane than others probably do not. Of course many schools have smaller planes for coaches recruiting trips... www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/picture-gallery/sports/college/alabama/2017/01/06/alabama-football-team-arrives-in-tampa/96252154/

Given the NCAA foots the bill for schools transportation to championships, having your own plane or not doesn't matter in this instance of travelling to Oregon.

That last game for Bucknell in 2008 was a rough one to take. After beating FSU 7-0, they lost to the same team 24-9. Ouch. Still, they did open their NCAA run with a win so good for the Bison.
On semi-related note, we just got back from a trip to Wyoming and South Dakota. I liked one tee shirt that might serve Bucknell well. On the front of the short it said:
"What dies not kill you makes you stronger. [picture of Bison Head] A bison will just kill you!"

The 24-9 loss was not a surprise at all. Bucknell threw all of their pitchers into Games 1 and 2. After Matt Wilson incredibly shut out FSU in Game 1 - viewed as one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history - they gambled on beating Tulane in Game 2. Had they won that game, they would have earned an off-day, which would have been followed by a loss to FSU - setting up a Tuesday championship game with their top pitchers available, including Wilson, who shut out FSU in the first game, and Jason Buursma, who has the lowest career ERA in PL history, who was unhittable most of the season. Once they lost a close game to Tulane, they had no shot.

Thanks for that explanation, Bison.

Thanks for that explanation, Bison. I probably should have added that Florida State had 16 players on that team who were taken in the MLB draft in 2008-10, including Buster Posey, who was one of the top first round picks, and also Tyler Holt, who made it to the majors for a few years. Some might be surprised to know that Posey led FSU in saves, as well as most hitting categories. Tough team to beat, especially on their home field.

But for 2 questionable base calls the thundering herd beats uva a few years later. Bucknell got blown out by UVA the only time they played them (2014). Did beat Liberty in the next game however. Are you thinking of 2010, when Bucknell had a 5-1 lead over South Carolina in the middle of the 6th inning but couldn't hold on? As for close UVA games, Army lost to them 2-1 in 2013.

I do remember the buck v USC game. Losing to bucknell keeps USC from national champs.
I am thinking of the buck v uva game. I'm forgetting the final score. Did uva pour on late? Two early calls hurt bucknell. Prolly a stretch they would have won but score would have been closer.

Doesn't Nebraska's football; team have its own plane ? It can't be too busy in early june Doesn't matter...the NCAA schedules the flights. So the NCAA decided the cheapest way for the three teams to get there is to charter a plane from Hartford stop in Lincoln or Omaha pick up Nebraska and then go to Corvallis.

tim, 'theoretically'? more like 'delirious' - such a scenario is more than a million to one - it would compare to our basketball team going to the elite eight. the gap between mid-majors and high majors is very wide in baseball. but I will admit Coastal Carolina won it all last year but with a fully-funded schollie roster (and did not even make the 64 team field this year). I am convinced our rpi (206 of 299 d.1 teams) is accurate and we will have to play our tails off to keep the scores respectable. You took me seriously?

I was just advised I have a ticket for the hc/osu game by Anthony Moore. No walk up tickets; it's a sell out.

College Baseball World Series Prediction
The bracket is officially set for the 2017 College World Series. The brackets were released on Monday, and there wasn't all that much in the way of drama for the teams at the very top.
Perhaps the most controversial decision was the inclusion of Stanford in the top 8 seeds. The Cardinal won their last seven games of the regular season to sneak into the top 8, meaning they're going to host a Super Regional if they can get through their own bracket in Palo Alto. The road might be a bit tough, though. Stanford has to play against traditional powerhouse Cal State Fullerton at least once, and possibly as many as three times in four days just to advance out of its own region. Stanford is a +850 choice to win the College World Series, but CSU Fullerton could easily steal that spot and suddenly become a favorite in the Super Regionals.
The favorite to win it all is Oregon State. The Beavers aren't expected to have any troubles in its own regional against Nebraska, Yale or Holy Cross, and playing against the winner of the Clemson Regional at home in the Super Regionals shouldn't be a problem either. The Beavers have been the No. 1 team in the country for essentially the whole season, and they're +400 to capture the National Championship.
North Carolina is the only other team close to Oregon State on the odds to win the College World Series at a price of +550.
Of the top 16 teams who are hosting regionals, five are out of the ACC. UNC leads the way, but Louisville (+850), Florida State (+1600), Wake Forest (+2000) and Clemson (+2500) are all going to be live as well.
The SEC has four teams hosting regionals in the NCAAs. LSU and Florida are both amongst the favorites to capture the National Championship at prices of +800, while Kentucky and Arkansas are distant choices at +1400 and +1600 respectively.
Of course, it isn't anywhere near a guarantee that one of the top 16 teams will win the National Championship. Last year's champion, Coastal Carolina, was a No. 2 seed in its own regional. This year, the Chanticleers aren't even in the NCAA Tournament. Last year's national runner-up, Arizona is playing in the Lubbock Regional. Texas Tech is the No. 5 national seed and is amongst the favorites to win the National Championship at +850.
Odds To Win the College World Series
Oregon State +400
North Carolina +550
Florida +800
LSU +800
Louisville +850
TCU +850
Texas Tech +850
Stanford +850
Kentucky +1400
Arkansas +1600
Florida State +1600
Long Beach State +1600
Southern Miss +1600
Wake Forest +2000
Clemson +2500
Houston +2500

I have no idea who will win but baseball is a flukey game and I will be very surprised if the "favorite" Oregon State wins the whole thing.

So, as an expert KY, does this mean if they "place" or "show," I win nothing?

What, pray tell, is a "proposition bet?"

prop bets pop up a lot during Super Bowl time.
For instance " Tom Brady will throw for 300+ yards."
"Oregon State will make it to Omaha" would be a prop bet.
