If Vellaccio has/had that much power, the proper thing to do was give him an official title as such and list him as a high up in the Administration. No corporation would locate such power with a shadowy figure with no official title. How can anyone hold him responsible for his performance if he has no official portfolio. The Jesuits in Champi apparently don't place a high value on transparency--but we already knew that.

Is Senior Vice President a shadowy title? Don't you think the people that needed to know what FV was in charge of were aware of his duties? I think it was pretty obvious to anyone who is even remotely close to the school that Frank oversaw Athletics, Admissions and financial aid for the last 10 years or so. Don't you think that the Board of Trustees that includes CEOs and CFOs of Fortune 500 companies would have asked for a change if they had not been comfortable? Or were the Jesuits clouding their minds with incense and other Papal, Catholic things?
Out of curiosity what would you have suggested his title be?
BTW, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I'm not sure what power you're talking about Frank having, but the fact that he was in favor of scholarships yet was not able get them approved because he could not find a way to fund them would say that perhaps he doesn't have that much power.
And his title for some time has been Senior Vice President. And the role and responsibilities of the Senior Vice President are spelled out in the bylaws of the college and the position answers to the President and BOT.
And since I've provided a link to the bylaws for you specifically, at least twice in the last year, I trust you read them thoroughly and simply forgot what they say.

And I thought you were "Eye-talian?" Or were you being sarcastic about the spelling of the Jesuit residency?

well Vellacio was for many years an outspoken opponent of a bigger commitment athletics and a Brooks disciple of the highest order.
He spoke to a group of alumni donors a month after the Kentucky game in the NCAAs and literally said "my goodness, we play one basketball game and now everyone knows who we are."

Must be his M.I.T. background- not known for athletic prowess but their academic power.😉

Vellacio, like other "powers that be" ovah the last 20-30 years at HC....don't "get it" vis a vis athletics and college public awareness. Under Fr. Boroughs, they may finally be waking up.

there are those among us that still deny it No problem. Heck, there are some among us that still deny Trump is President. His comments at the reunion sounded quite different from what I have heard were his former beliefs about the role athletics can play in "advertising" a college. I, for one, like his new positions. Better late than never.
