Just from the highlights video.. Benintendi hits a 3 run homer to win the game. Either the runner on first stops to congratulate, or he's mobbed by the team, but the game ends 4-3, and batter gets a double not a home run. Please Red Sox, let the guy get his home run and rbis

I also thought it was a home run but upon seeing the replay the ball bounced on the warning track, then off the wall and up into the stands.

Please Red Sox, let the guy get his home run and rbis The ball landed on the warning track and bounced into the stands (with one out and a potential winning runner on third, the RF was playing shallow). Normally this would be considered an automatic double, but all non-home-run-walk-off-hits are considered singles. He properly got credited for a single. I'm a big Benintendi fan and would like to see him get all the props he can. He's having a season so far that nine out of ten years would get serious Rookie of the Year consideration (sadly, Judge from NY has already wrapped it up for this year). After basically going 0 for May, the kid is on a hot streak right now. He even saved the game with a miscue, when he badly misplayed a ball off the wall but was able to chase it down and throw out a guy at the plate (who would have stayed at second if the ball hadn't been so badly misplayed)

I guess it evens out in the long run...in this case, the guy loses a double; but in a lot of other cases, the single the hitter gets credit for wouldn't be a hit against a standard defensive alignment...it's just a fly ball out with the runner scoring easily.
