I remember the Titans (no movie pun intended). As I recall, they had a good offense and almost no defense. This is different than the modern Jets who don't seem to have much of either at this point. Hopefully Kalif will help to change half of that.

Maybe the Jets will be competitive by the end of this contract.

THree year NFL contracts are worthless. That is why they all play so hard every snap. Unlike the NBA and MLB, as soon as one gets cut, one doesn't get paid.

They signed Jeremy Kerley yesterday who may challenge Kalif for punt and/or kick return duties and will certainly take some of the playing time at WR that might have previously been available.

Kalif will wear #84 with the Jets. #19 was open but I guess he wanted a fresh start. His high school and college #7 is taken by kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

Looks like Jets first game is 9/10/17 at 1:00 pm EDT to be on CBS playing at Buffalo.
Good luck, Kalif!

Kalif listed as starting KR and PR: because it's the Jets, he'll prob get a ton of touches returning kicks, not many returning punts.

He's dropped the last 2 punts. First bounced right back to him and got the25 yard after stutter stepping and juking one guy. Nice return.
Next punt he dropped but pounced on it for no no yardage. That has to worry the coaches.

Special Teams was the only Jets unit to receive a grade of better than D from the NY Post:
Special teams
Chandler Catanzaro was the best weapon the Jets had Sunday. The kicker made field goals from 48 and 52 yards after winning the training-camp competition. Punter Lac Edwards averaged 49.5 yards per punt, giving the Jets good field position for most of the day. The coverage units were strong. Punt returner Kalif Raymond set the Jets up with great field position midway through the fourth quarter with a 25-yard return.
Grade: B

That is good, but two dropped punts, even if you recover the ball, is what some will remember. The rep that "he is good on returns when he holds on to the ball" could be a killer in the NFL.
