I've heard of Ralph Branca, but am unfamiliar with Ralph Brandt. I assume he's an oldtimer?

Ralph was the senior 6'6" center on the '60 Foley, Shea, Blaney team. Averaged 12 pts, 12 rebs, more Rebs than Jack F Career #3 reb Ave, to Heinsohn and Togo, #4 total in three years. #3 in season reb ave 15.0 also to Tom H and Togo Hall worthy ?

I saw him play. Played taller than his height. He resides in CA. I vaguely recall he was contacted several years ago and didn't care to talk about his playing days.
Re George Kaftan, as most know he was the tourney MVP in '47, "the Golden Greek," then played in the NBA. He more than anyone else put New England college basketball on the map. His place in history underappreciated.

Ralph Brandt grew up in Palo alto, ca. Lives in england now. What did I say....California?......No. I meant to say England. On the old board, IIRC HC70 reached out to him, for reasons unclear. I believe he was eventually tracked down to CA, from where he was from. The 1940 Census has him living in Palo Alto age two. From the names of his siblings, it would appear his father was a German emigre.

Here is Ralph Brandt 2/7/1959. jerrywest.lib.wvu.edu/catalog/wvulibraries:15738. The WVU library is making 5 copies of 9 minutes of Jerry West action in the 1958-59 season to send me. I'm told there is some HC footage from that game, one of the first games ever nationally televised out of wv by NBC. I plan to try to get a copy of this footage to GB, TS and RB. Fwiw

Better find....go to browser enter jerry West 1958-59 you tube. Top one has the hc game in it. We led by 15 in first half and 12 at half. Road fatigue, lost 96 90 Coach Bill would have a hemorrhoid over the pace.

If they say "no," do you still have the juice to get a subpoena or warrant?

I have reached out to NBC to see if I can get entire game. (think it was NBC). Get the ECAC Final vs. Providence game from 1976-7 while you are at it. Have not seen a single clip from that game since maybe 10 days after it happened. Can think of a few more, some good, some bad (Northeastern game in 81)

There's an Audio Visual section of the College Archives in Dinand that includes the following sections: RG 3.2 Athletics RG 3.2.1 Football RG 3.2.2 Football Miscellaneous RG 3.2.3 Gordie Lockbaum 1984-1989 RG 3.2.4 Men's Basketball RG 3.2.5 Women's Basketball RG 3.2.6 Basketbal Miscellaneous RG 3.2.7 Miscellaneous Sports RG 3.2.8 Duplicate Copies www.holycross.edu/archives-and-special-collections/archives-collectionsWould be surprised if much of it has been digitized and some of it may simply be game film, but if they have it, you might get a quicker response as well as info on how to access copies if you contact the college archives and let them know what you're looking for. www.holycross.edu/archives-and-special-collections/contact-information

The following are my Top 3 all-time HC basketball teams. Of course, picking teams like this is very subjective. Feel free to criticize or offer opinions. The third team was actually the most difficult to pick as there are so many HC outstanding and personal favorite players left off.
Starters: C: George Kaftan F: Tommy Heinsohn F: Togo Palazzi G: Jack Foley (played mostly forward during days at HC) G: Bob Cousy
2nd team: C: Gene Doyle F: Ed Siudut F: Chris Potter G: Ron Perry G: George Blaney
3rd Team: C: Ralph Brandt F: Keith Hochstein F: Gary Witts G: John Wendelken G: Keith Simmons
Personal Favorites Team of guys not listed above: C: Bob Foley (any player named Foley in an HC uniform is OK by me) F: Stan Grayson (my dad help recruit him to HC) F: Malcom Moulton (my dad help recruit him to HC) G: Jave Meade - just loved how he played the game. G: Tim Shea -outstanding player who just missed out on my Top 3 teams.

These types of teams/lists are always tricky when dealing with so many years/eras. In our particular case, I would divide our history/greatest team etc into two broad eras: 1947-1980 and 1981-present day.

G: Tim Shea -outstanding player who just missed out on my Top 3 teams. Thanks, ge some terrific selections. Totally agree with most of your teams. But, 1-you left out Rob Feaster. He would be on my third team over Keith H who moves to second team center. See #4 2-if you are going to stick to their true positions, it is impossible to put Jack the Shot at guard, a position he never played. After all he led in rebounds his last two seasons. So to stick to positions, Perry jr would be on my first team instead.with Jack the Shot moving to the second team. Here I would cheat and move Chris P to guard on my second team since he led the team in assists three seasons.and was a true point forward, well ahead of the term. 3-Tim Shea had a better career than George, slightly surpassing him in every stat kept then. I would put him on my second team with George as they were for their three seasons. 4-Since he played mostly center at 6'4", I would put Keith H at center on the second team, taking off Ralph.and moving .gene to the third team. 5-Since Keith S. did not play guard, I would put Dwight Pernell at third team guard with Wendy. 6- I would out Mike Vicens over Gary Wittson third team. of course, tomorrow I may change mt mind on some of these.
