Just a reminder...there is a game this Saturday (Gate@Cal-Poly)....I'll accept picks after that...kind of a goofy 1st week, I know...appreciate everyone who has put their picks in already.

Fball is the most psychological of all sports. I just have a feeling about this one. UConn might be overlooking us.

I wouldn't be surprised if UConn scores on every possession. Will the D be any better this year?

I wouldn't be surprised if UConn scores on every possession. Will the D be any better this year? Care to bet on that? That is pretty far fetched prediction. Not winning, even getting beaten as HC was by Fordham, is not the same as never being able to stop an opponent even once. That would put HC in the sort of position faced by Cumberland College (when they lost by 222 points to Georgia Tech) in 1916. I would be shocked if that should happen and expect HC defenders to play strong throughout the game and giving their all.

The following statement will come as no surprise to anyone who has watched Crusader football for the last 10 years or so:
If we are to have any chance against UConn (or many other teams on the schedule for that matter), our offense is going to have to stay on the field and keep the ball away from UConn so that our defenders are not on the field for extended periods. It'll help if our offense caps extended drives with TDs and not finish with turnovers and/or FGs, or worse, loss on downs. [Capt. Obvious, I know]

UCONN is not looking at many W's this year with their schedule. Predictions I've seen are 3. Edsell's not overlooking this great opportunity for one. Hate to repeat myself but if UCONN has an opportunity to make it lopsided - they will.

No need to repeat it because that is pretty obvious. UConn, IMO, is a weak sister among the D-IA teams and will try to show that the Cross is overmatched. Let's see how this plays out. While I am predicting a UConn win based solely on the divisional differential and we may, in fact, get blown out, I really think that there is a chance that this will bring back memories of our last win over Army West Point. First game of the season; away game; against a supposedly stronger opponent. We win and fairly handily because of Army mistakes and, frankly, better play from Holy Cross.
There are a lot of players wearing purple with chips on their shoulders and something to prove after the horrible season last year. If we have/want to play a D-IA team, UConn is the one I would rather play over Syracuse, Navy or BC. I would think that Holy Cross will have a solid contingent of supporters in a probably small crowd. If we get some early breaks, this will be an interesting game.

So, 'gate is up 17-0 in the first half. Sophomore running back ran up the middle virtually untouched for a looong TD run.

About 2 and a half minutes left in first half and gate still up 17-0. 'gate looks great when they run but their QB so far, not so good. 'gate stopped the Mustangs on a 4th and a half yard after the Raiders QB threw an interception.

17-0 H As sader1970 pointed out, Colgate looks good on the ground...CP kinda beating themselves (dropped TD passes, penalties etc) but Gate deserves praise for holding them scoreless.
I think it will be an interesting 2nd H.

Colgate holds 17-0 at the half and announcers are in shock. First time since 1998 that Cal Poly has been shutout in a first half.
Let's see what adjustments they make. It appears Cal Poly has slowed the Raider rush and the Raider QB has no TDs and one interception and doesn't look especially good. Believe 66 yards passing. Of concern for us is Colgate's defense looks very good against a supposedly very good Mustang offense.

Started watching midway through 2nd. Colgate defense looks good although their secondary got badly burned twice. On one play the qb overthrew the receiver and on another, the Cal Poly wr dropped one right in his hands.
