Announced or actual fannies in seats? If fannies, I'll say 24,000. If announced, I'll say 30,000.

Average attendance last year less than 27,000 at UConn. I would put our game at between 20,000 and 25,000 (I'll use 22,000 as my official guess) as it is pre-labor day and can't be of much interest to UConn fan base.

Hartford Courant essentially ridiculed last year's opening day (versus Maine) announced number of 29K and described the stadium as 2/3 empty at kickoff...with people arriving late and leaving early. www.courant.com/sports/uconn-football/hc-uconn-maine-football-0901-20160901-story.htmlThat being said the Edsell factor should keep the announced number for opening day at 29K. (Difference between HC contingent and last year's Maine contingent should be negligible). With a similar half empty (or worse) look.

I see what you did there Tough call on attendance. Returning head coach, night game (albeit a Thursday), game can be seen on cable (SNY) or online (ESPN3) etc. According to the Boneyard (UConn's message board) they have retained the 16K season tix holders...whether or not they choose to go see HC on a Thursday night on Labor Day weekend is another mattah. After threats of some rain, it looks (hopefully) like a nice night Thursday. I'll go announced: 26, 171....though it will probably be closer to 20,000 fannies actually in the seats in the 2nd Q.

18,430 actual fans - I counted. Great to see so many Crossporters at the game including cheerleader, ncaam. I will have to review my pictures later today but may have caught him in action leading the cheers. I told 45 that it seemed to be bigger than Yankee Stadium. I meant the crowd attendance against Fordham but he thought I was comparing actual stadium capacities. No question this will be the biggest and loudest crowd our team will play in front of this year.

Very accurate. I would have thought 28,000+ looking around. I didn't think the stadium was ever two thirds full. I admit that the crowd is late arriving and early departing and wanders around the stadium quite a bit, but I never thought it was even half full. I am sure they count all the season tickets (16,000 according to someone on the Boneyard) plus single game tickets, but I also suspect plenty were not used. A friend gave me four tickets that someone gave him. I gave two away to a stranger. That said, we will not play in front of a crowd approaching this one all year. The game experience at UCONN is fun although I grew weary of the third down "key play" schtick.
