You know, when some posters were poo-poohing having Monmouth on the schedule, a person a little more experienced than most told me that those people have no idea how good Monmouth and, to a lesser degree, Central CT are these days. Things have changed alot in the last 25 years and even more in the last 12-15 years.

For purposes of comparison, CCSU is 0-2 and is ranked #104. That would put hem behind Georgetown and ahead of 0-2 Lafayette. That is not much of an improvement. Remember what HC did to CSU At their place couple of years ago?
Monmouth has been a good club for several years and would beat CCSU by at least 2 touchdowns, so I don't see them in the same category quite yet.

IMO, having UNH at home for the Ring of Honor game is a big plus for the Crusaders' chances.

I absolutely agree regarding Monmouth and I think (too lazy to look it up right now) that yesterday makes two consecutive wins over Lehigh. I'm predicting 4-0 v PL for Monmouth this year. Monmouth is following the same course as Stony Brook in joining the Big South and resembles them in many ways. I remember watching a very good and playoff-bound Colgate play at Stony Brook (when Stony Brook was exiting Big South for CAA) and their fans' shock at what happened. Shouldn't have been, SB had better and faster players. Suspect it is the same way now at Monmouth - casual fans might be unaware.

Monmouth's academic standards are a bit more "flexible" than HC for athletes and, they have no problem with redshirting players...not only for injuries.

We'll get a bettah feel for how good the Hawks are when they travel to Albany this week. I agree in general, they seem pretty solid (haven't seen yet)....but I'm not sold on them being world-beaters just yet. I am glad we are playing them at Fitton this year rather than down on the Jersey Shore.

I am glad we are playing them at Fitton this year rather than down on the Jersey Shore. Haven't heard any suggestions they are world beaters but the point was that they snuck up on some casual observers. They are Patriot League beaters the last two years (Last year went 2-0 v PL and beat solid Lehigh and Fordham squads while this year they are thus far 2-0. ) CAA Albany and subsequent Big South opposition is a completely different story, of course.
