I don't know why this was necessary but there are big changes in league baseball scheduling. here's the link from the league site the major changes: 25 game league schedule (from 20) in 2018 we have 11 home and 14 away (the reverse in '19) some weekend series against the same opponent are now 3 games with single game on sunday other weekend series are dh's vs. 2 different schools there is a midweek game in april (vs. army in our case as they are closest to Worcester) ) www.patriotleague.org/documents/2017/8/7//CurrentPL_Baseball_Schedule_2018_2019_.pdf?id=3692

I caught this with Dartmouth releasing their schedule last week. The top two teams will meet in the Ivy League Championship.

If only some weekend series are 3 games, presuming two will be 9 inning games, those series of four games will have two 7 inning games, again presumably. Severe imbalance ?

Strange timing Haven't many/all ooc games been scheduled already ? How many Patriot League squads reached the 56 game limit last season? I don't think a single one did. Holy Cross played 54 including the Patriot League and the NCAA Tournaments.

I don't know how many HC played in September/October, but I am pretty sure every PL team played at least a few.

bison, I don't know about this fall, but in the recent past our coach has just had intra-squad games over a couple of fall weekends. have you been able to determine the league's motivation for this expanded league schedule - starting around march 20th every year can only mean occasional snowy-cold rain, and very soft conditions. I suppose there's a good reason but unless some sort of ncaa mandate, have to question it.

Time would have been better spent on the basketball schedule.

Even if you want to include three fall ball games, Holy Cross still doesn't reach the 56 game limit for scheduled regular season games.

Checked my traps today.. Schedule change is the work of one prominent school. Bison can probably identify.

So HC plays a doubleheader @ Navy on March 24th, then a doubleheader @ Bucknell on March 25th? That's a 7hr drive to navy, then a 3+ hour drive to Bucknell after the games?

.. and 5-6 hours Sunday night back to Worcester. Every team as the one road weekend with dh's at different schools but ours is clearly the worst. and the likelihood of weather delays is great. The whole thing is crazy

Interesting I'm assuming Coach D fought it tooth and nail if it is so dumb?

Interesting I'm assuming Coach D fought it tooth and nail if it is so dumb? My problem with it is playing midweek conference games and doubleheaders at different places on weekends over an hour apart.
