Cross fall to the #16 Wildcats 2-0. Your goalie had a great night stopping 24 shots!

Aren't there usually just 5 or 6 shots on goal per team per game? It would be beyond extraordinary IF correct. I have followed soccer for many decades, and I'm not sure I ever saw a goalie with 24 saves. However that was not the case tonight. There were actually eight shots on goal, and the holy cross goalie made six saves. There were 26 shots in total, but 18 of them were not on goal. That is kind of a normal ratio.

My bad I don't follow soccer and misread the box score.

Either way, we got dominated. We lost shots 26-3 and shots on goal 8-1.

Finished last season winless in the last 10 matches (0-7-3) and this season we're now 1-3-1. troubling trend and it's difficult to imagine much success this season vs. PL opponents, although I hope I'm wrong. What's the problem with this program ?

It seems like the teams we have lost to our decent -- Brown is 3-0, Delaware is 3-1-1, and UNH is in the Top 25.
You're right, though. This program hasn't been good since Elvis Comrie was the coach.

we held a strong BU team to only 3 shots on goal, but all of the went through for a score - lost the Turnpike Trophy match 3-0. now 1-1-1 in the league, and big challenges lie ahead in tough league matches. Bucknell is another strong team that will be favored in saturday's game in Worcester. This team needs a signature league win

Is there anyone who cares about the Turnpike Trophy? If there is, has it done anything in terms of boosting the HC/BU rivalry?

Is there anyone who cares about the Turnpike Trophy? If there is, has it done anything in terms of boosting the HC/BU rivalry? If you use an expansive definition of "major" sports, two out of five are covered. I looked up something that said there were 24 events. I assume that number is constant. My guess is that from a fan standpoint the trophy has done nothing for the rivalry to date. Perhaps after some years momentum will build and fans will care. From my viewpoint, I'd rather win the "majors" and lose the trophy than dominate the minors to bring home the trophy in a year the majors lost I can't speak for the athletes themselves. They might take great pride in the trophy

No....and I think the vast, vast majority of BU students don't know they have athletics outside of hockey. The "Turnpike Trophy" is an example of an outsider coming in and trying to jam a square peg into a round hole.

No....and I think the vast, vast majority of BU students don't know they have athletics outside of hockey. The "Turnpike Trophy" is an example of an outsider coming in and trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. But what's the downside? I don't get all of the handwringing over the TT. Is it dumb/contrived? Sure. But it's not costing us anything. No resources have been diverted to the TT at the expense of some other, more noble, goal. BU is by far our nearest geographic PL opponent. There's a certain logic to trying to highlight that.

I have not observed any handwringing. What I see in the posts is overwhelming apathy (or, perhaps, indifference) toward the TT. Given the lack of support for some of our "olympic" sports, HC is facing a stacked deck in most of those sports (at least for the next year or two).
