I wonder which part of this statement applies to the PL:
"The long-term mission of the Alliance is to increase proficiency and consistency among veteran officials across the collegiate basketball officiating landscape and to facilitate the entry of younger referees into the officiating profession."

This hopefully will improve training a bit - but it does not mean the PL will suddenly get ACC refs. Maybe quality goes from a 2 (on a scale of 10) to a 2.5.

If this is a way to develop young refs, I would imagine that the PL will be where they start (not the ACC).

The PL and Big East use to run their officials camps together...At least on the womens level..I was in DC at the AAU Junior Nationals a number of years ago when the 2 leagues used that tourney as training. One of the lead refs there was a friend of mine, and he was head of the Womens Big East refs training at the time. He has since retired and last season started working as a timer at HC for the men's games..

College refs also used to train and / or try out at competitive summer camps, such as 5 Star. Many felt much pressure as supervisors watched them. Some reacted well, some did not.
