Wow--that's a fantastic t-shirt. I do not think I will be wearing it around town if I do obtain one.
Re: Ralph--I had a radio talk show on yesterday and he was being discussed as a possible interim coach. The show host had the same thought that Ray expressed above: Ralph may be perceived as being too close to Rick....

My hope is that this year's HC Bball team is like this year's Yankees with a lot of positive surprises from a very young squad. I know most on the board are Bosox fans and might think such a hope as almost blasphemous; however, as a Yankee fan, this year has been the most fun in years as a big group of very young players are out there bringing youth, athleticism, and enthusiasm to the field while having fun and doing far better than predicted. That's my hope for this year's team I like the comparison. I hear that Aaron Judge has been referred to as "the Austin Butler of MLB"..........

I'm surprised there's anyone who doesn't believe stuff like this (along with plying recruits with girls) doesn't happen at every major college athletic program.

"every" is a bit strong some would have too much to lose to risk it, ex Duke now most would be closer to accurate

it began at least in the 50s when NYC "spooks" like Mike Tineberg, Howie Garfinkel and the infamous Freddie the Spook Stegman aligned themselves with colleges, and led HS players to those schools for $. the shoe companies and AAU are the latest iteration with $$$$$$$$$

could be that Pitino's next job could be coaching a prison team many coaches have said that is an ideal job since you do not have to worry about parental involvement

One reason TPTB at a school like Louisville look the other way,, and condone a lot.
M's hoops expenses 2015-2016: $17,900,000 M's hoops revenue 2015-16: $45,633,000
The interim president at Louisville is a radiologist, and professor at the Medical School. Probably as far away from the sports ethos as the University could get for an in-house person.

This basketball scandal follows closely on the heels of a financial one involving the extremely highly compensated university president (ex) and cronies

Quite the paragraph from Pete Thamel that hints at just how many coaches will be having trouble sleeping for a little while: "Perhaps the most revealing part of the past 48 hours came from numerous conversations with coaches and assistants throughout the sport. There’s a near-universal admission that they had no sense that the activities of coaches, agents and sneaker company reps were against the law. (The NCAA’s impotent enforcement department had been incapable of policing the grassroots underworld for decades.) The culture of the activities described in the federal court documents – buying players, steering players and brokering deals for kickbacks – has become such an engrained part of the sport’s culture that there was widespread shock that it was raised to federal government implications. The activities the feds are investigating, to many in college basketball, were considered business as usual."www.yahoo.com/amphtml/sports/feds-decided-college-basketballs-corruption-worth-time-171833684.html

Pitino dirt ball through and through. Unfortunately took a long time to get what he deserves. Still haven't forgiven him for shunning Red Auerbach when he took over C's. What was incredible was that he fired everyone that was there. Didn't matter how low on the totem pole. The PA announcer...even the guys that held up the cards on the sidelines (P1 T1) when someone committed a foul got gassed.

Courier-Journal columnists, sports and non-sports, have condemned RP in the harshest terms. I'm not hearing anyone suggest that we wait for his side of the story

But, but, but . . . . Ricky made a big donation for the chapel at Providence College. It was probably that Rick Pitino that Ralph Willard loves, not that other guy that we read about at the bar or the guy who is suspended now.
Here's the other side of RP which also touches on prior threads about college vs. pro sports fans in the Northeast:

Pitino was the same arrogant egomaniac wherever he was. The only difference is that he won basketball games in most stops.
