Practice begins early next week. With an inexperienced squad this could be Coach Carmody's most challenging year.

Thanks for posting. Nice to see the kids helping in the community
Kind of interesting that this seems to be a freshmen only activity. I would have guessed this volunteering would have been a team thing

Tom, I noticed in other pictures linked to this twitter that Carmody was there and while no upper classmen, I suspect this was a class-bonding thing.

Thanks, WG Will any poster see any practices ? Is there an open practice ? if the football season continues to be disastrous, hoop season cannot come soon enough. the 50s crew cut man has to be Butler, or some Marine who is a walk on.

Last year, there was one open practice on the last Saturday of October - expect it will be the same this year, and I'm sure several of us will be there. Don't know if some of the "in" crowd will get other looks at the team before then.

Did I see gray uniforms in that video clip? I wouldn't read anything into what players wear in practice. . . although if the football team can come out in gray for UNH, who knows?

Pete was a fine HS player who played a little at Fairfield. A very successful coach at grammar school, high schools. Xavier and Providence, not as much at UVA. Always a humorous, wonderful gentleman. Had some interest in coaching HC at one point.

I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Gillen at some AAU tourney in Connecticut, while he was at Providence (not sure when, but i know the red headed Bonner kid from NH was playing). In between games I was kinda hanging around by myself while all the coaches were milling about. All of a sudden this little guy comes up, sticks out his hand, and says "Hi, I'm Pete Gillen, Providence College". I'm not sure if he thought I was a coach or just felt bad for me. We chatted a few minutes (I think when I mentioned HC he started talking a bit about George Blaney). Real nice guy.

On a practice note, last year HC had an open practice session for both men and women on a Saturday when the football team was away. Any rumors about something this year? Obviously there are no non-football Saturdays between now and the Assumption scrimmage. Although nothing says an open practice has to be before Assumption, on a Saturday, or not conflict with football.
