Not the St.Joe’s hawk, but Connie Hawkins. Was cheated out of his college and prime pro years by not reporting a bribe. one of the best ever out of NYC. Could do it all at 6’8”- dribble, pass, shoot, rebound, defend. i saw him at Boys High and in the ABL. Just an amazing player. a terrific book, Foul, by David Wolf, recounts his story. Two great reads: Foul by David Wolf, The Wizard of Odds by Charlie Rosen. The former about The Hawk the latter about Jack Molinas, who was at the heart of the betting scandal.
The anecdotes in Wolf's book about the ABL and the ABA are priceless.
