Been a while since I refereed , but I believe the rule still is: since a tip is not a shot, it must be completely through the net before the buzzer sounds

In the NBA, a tip definitely counts as long as it has left the player's hand. See David Lee's famous tip-in on an inbound pass with 0.1 seconds left:
The slow motion shows the ball had left his hand but hadn't entered the cylinder, let alone the net, as the buzzer went off and the red light came on.
I believe it is the same in college, but I am not positive.

A tip is a try for goal and same rules apply as if it were a jump Shot from anywhere on the court.

Watching the Gtown-Butler game. Butler player tips in the tying shot at the buzzer. It definitely was not through the net before the buzzer, yet it counted.

Watching the Gtown-Butler game. Butler player tips in the tying shot at the buzzer. It definitely was not through the net before the buzzer, yet it counted. That’s because the rule is that as long as an attempt for a try leaves the players hands (even a tip) before time expires, the try will be good if it goes through the basket.

I always thought a tip was credited as a rebound if it did not go in but a rebound and a shot if it did go in. If so, it would be logical to treat it like any other shot (leave the hand before time expires)

'hoops can correct me here, but I thought we played a more aggressive 1-3-1 D against Siena, with Green often picking up the D full court. We played some match up in the second half, but it looked to me like Coach Scott was concentrating more on the 1-3-1. The scoreboard at the TUC seems like it's 20 stories high, a neck-breaking height, so I never noticed the one guy getting 29!

Green did pick up further up court to disrupt and slow down the offense. The bigger change was that at least in the second half, we played our 4 man, not the 2, at the base of the 1-3-1

Back to Colgate . . . some salient stats -
THREE POINT RATE. On paper, not a great match-up here. The Raiders have taken nearly half their shots (48.8%) from beyond the arc, ranked 11th in the country. They also make a lot of them - 39.6%, ranked 38th. As has been noted elsewhere our aggressive - or reckless, depending on point of view - attempt to create TOs on the perimeter has allowed teams to find and take a number of wide-open threes - consequently Holy Cross permits one of the highest rates of threes in D1 (44.8%, 332nd) and opponents enjoy above-average success on those shots (36.1%, 220th).
Defensively, Colgate is marginally better on this metric, but opponents have still made a healthy 37%+ of their threes.
REBOUNDING. Better news here, maybe. Maybe due to the volume of threes they take, Colgate has been a very weak offensive rebounding team (19.9%, 322nd), so we really should - and need to - get 70-75%+ of available boards at the defensive end.
TURNOVERS. The Raiders have taken good care of the ball, turning it over in just 17.2% of their possessions (87th). They don't force a lot at the other end, either (18.2%, 201st).
EXTRA SCORING CHANCES PER GAME*. A function of rebounding and turnover margins. Colgate checks in at -2.3, 260th nationally - i.e., opponents gain an extra 2.6 opportunities per game. Holy Cross, unsurprisingly, is even worse by this measure at -4.2 (309th) - last year, btw, HC was a healthy +1.2 (110th).
* (Offensive Rebounds + Opponent Turnovers) - (Opponent Offensive Rebounds - Turnovers)

The last two times we played at the Hart between Xmas and NY Day we had attendance listed as follows:
Dec 31, 2014 vs Boston U= 1,792 attendance per box score
Dec 30, 2015 vs Boston U= 2,345 " " "
I understand fully that there may be a difference between stated attendance and fannies in the seats. As well, we have the factor of the rabid fans who will follow Boston U to any venue except their own......
