The Middies are currently 11-6 and Massey makes them a 10 point favorite against HC (69-59) with an 84% chance for the win.

HC is 1-8 away from the Hart Center with our only win coming at Sacred Heart. Perhaps it s time for another one.

In Navy we see a veteran opponent that is tough at home. Here is the Navy account of their loss to Colgate.
HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Navy men’s basketball team (11-6, 2-2 PL) fell at Colgate (8-7, 3-1 PL), 70-62, on Monday evening at Cotterell Court. Navy led by 10 points late in the first half, but Colgate closed the period on a 11-0 run and then outscored the Mids in the second half, 41-34. Senior guard Shawn Anderson scored a game-high 21 points, including 17 in the second half, and also pulled down six rebounds. Junior forward George Kiernan tallied 17 points with a career-high 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. Junior guard Hasan Abdullah scored 12 points with five assists and three steals. Senior guard Sean O’Brien led Colgate with 18 points and six assists, while sophomore forward Will Rayman added 17 points and seven rebounds.
“I thought we did a pretty job defensively tonight,” said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis. “But offensively, we just couldn’t make a basket. We took some bad shots that led to some easy baskets for them. We also didn’t do a good job of getting to the basket enough and creating contact to get to the free throw line.” Navy shot 38.1 percent for the game (24-of-63), but shot just 34.5 percent for the first 37 minutes of the game before making some late baskets. Navy was 8-of-29 on 3-pointers and attempted just seven free throws (6-of-7). Navy also turned the ball over 16 times.
Colgate jumped out to a 10-4 lead after 3-pointers by O’Brien and Rayman, but Navy came right back with a 6-0 run on baskets by freshman guard Cam Davis, sophomore center Evan Wieck and Anderson to tie the game at 10-10. Colgate went ahead again at 14-10, but the Mids reeled off a 10-0 run on the strength of two 3-pointers and a putback by Kiernan, while also getting two steals from Hasan Abdullah. Navy took its biggest lead of the first half at 28-18 at the 4:45 mark after Kiernan’s third 3-pointer, but Colgate responded with a half-ending 11-0 run over the final 4:19 to take a 29-28 lead at halftime. Navy was called for five fouls in the final 3:31 of the first half. Two layups early in the second half by Anderson kept Navy within a point, but Colgate would not give up its lead for the remainder of the game.
Colgate eventually pushed its lead to 11 at 58-47 with five minutes remaining before Navy made a late push. Anderson sunk a 3-pointer and then the Mids forced a 30-second violation before Abdullah made a jumper to cut Navy’s deficit down to six points.Navy began to send Colgate to the free throw line and the Raiders made all 12 of their foul shot attempts in the final 67 seconds. Kiernan made three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt to cut the lead to five with 59 seconds left, but O’Brien would then make two free throws.
Anderson scored a layup and then Navy forced a turnover before another bucket by Abdullah cut the margin back to five again with 27 seconds left. However, Colgate continued to make its free throws while Navy missed on its next opportunity. Kiernan hit a late 3-pointer with eight seconds left to cut Colgate’s lead to six, but O’Brien made two more free throws to close the game with an eight-point victory at 70-62. Navy outrebounded Colgate, 38-35, and had a 23-9 advantage in points scored off of turnovers.

You would think they'd piggyback the Loyola/Navy games (or AU instead of one of those two) as one trip. Go down there once (or twice given there are 3 schools there) instead of two/three times. Then again, it is the Patriot League.

Except those 3 schools also have long travel to HC, Bucknell & Colgate at some point in the season too and so would prefer their long trips to occur during the break, too.
The PL has to keep the needs of 10 schools balanced and so every year will have some schedule features HC is not ideal for HC.
Then consider that we fly to Loyola, AU, & Navy and the travel, while harder on the budget, is not horrible.

BTW - Classes begin on Tuesday January 23, so 3 of HC's 4 long trips (Bucknell, American, & Navy) occur before classes begin, though depending on travel arrangements, the AU game may casue some classes to be missed early on the first day of class.

And by BU of course I meant Bucknell. Made the change in the posts above to be clear.

To differntiate the two, Ithink I'm going to start using what I proposed when Boston U joined the PL Boston University = BosU Bucknell University = BuckU

8485, you owe me royalties! When Boston U joined the PL, I suggested "BuckU" to refer to Bucknell. Check your Crossports archives! Not sure why it never caught on but perhaps the respect we have for bison137 might have been a deterrent.
