How about BU and Bucknell given that that is how 99% of HC alums would refer to them in conversation? If the extra characters bother you, just don’t write about Bucknell on the board.

This board, with so many well-educated posters, offers few opportunities for policing grammar. Out in the wider world we have so many to amuse us as we, as gentlemen and ladies, stay silent in the face of the transgressions:
"less" versus "fewer" "amount" versus "number" "home in on" vs. the egregious "hone in on" the non-word "irregardless" versus "irrespective" "would of" versus "would have" "affect" and "effect"
Having made this pedantic posting, I look forward to being corrected on this board in short order......

Following this tangent shortly, and since you were looking forward to it Although I have never seen it used in this context on the board, when discussing the rarely used technique of removing material from the outside of a piston or cylinder by means of abrasive stones, the phrase "hone in" is not egregious

Anyone ever take a new "tact" as opposed to tack? Most sailors (with real sails) know the right answer on that one. How about a difficult "road" to hoe? If you are plowing a road, won't all of it be difficult? But a difficult "row" to hoe allows for alternatives. Finally, if the intended meaning is conveyed, does it really matter?

From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Is irregardless a word? Irregardless was popularized in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its increasingly widespread spoken use called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.
