Well ...
At the PL Championship last year Colgate men finished 7th and HC finished 8th with scores of
Colgate 154 HC 131
But one is a dual meet the other a 10 team meet so Im sure that impacts scoring.
We swim against PC on Saturday at the Hart Center. Last year we lost to them at PC 156-142. That might be a good benchmark.

Well, Colgate got a smack-down at BU before the HC match, so maybe they are not very good this year. That being said,to come within 2 points vs. any PL school is an accomplishment which means we are improving, even if only marginally.
I believe I am correct when I say HC's men's team has 'never' (as in not even once) defeated a PL team in a dual meet, and we've never finished anywhere but at or near the bottom in the league championships.
I also don't believe our pool dimensions are adequate for the league competition, so we're always traveling to that in Feb.
Maybe we can beat PC on Saturday

I interviewed some years ago a local student-athlete who wanted to go to HC--state champion in 1 or 2 of the swim sprint races. Alas, he got wait-listed and went to Xavier in Cincy where he did quite well....

those stories are all too common - that's why it seems we have an institutional policy against serious recruiting for minor sports (esp men's where there is no or little money) in a league which takes fielding respectable teams a priority - ergo, we get embarrassed in all those sports.
'wait-list' level candidates who are full-payers or otherwise qualify for need-based assistance, must be admitted - or this trend will continue forever

Would almost certainly be a win for HC. Also HC would beat AU on the men's side. As for the PL championships, you are correct that the pool dimensions, i.e. only six lanes, disqualify HC from hosting. Also there are not nearly enough spectator seats to be allowed to host. For the past 15 years, it has alternated between Navy and Bucknell.

My older son - a swimmer - was refused by HC and graduated from Fairfield with honors (and few school swimming records). I was prepared to pay full tuition but never got the chance. His younger brother was accepted, but went to Delaware because of how his brother had been treated. Sad.

When the heck is the President and the Board going to do something about admissions or are they part of the problem too? We hear of these problems repeatedly but nothing ever changes.

We also beat Springfield, who used to beat us every year when I was in school. At least back then, we would at least win the Worcester City Championship though!! Believe it or not I used to go to that meet every year.

PL championships at Bucknell started Wednesday - after 2 days our men are in last (10th) place and women are in 9th. Other schools take swimming more seriously than we do

Is the team improving? Yes...and six school records were broken. The sobering news is how far they still need to go, with those record performances all at, or close to, the bottom of the finalists. The women finished in 9th place, while the men finished in 10th.
