As we're half way through the league schedule, some quick brain droppings on how the conference has gone for HC thus far.
At 3-6 HC is in 9th place. They were pre-season projected into the 8th spot.
As a random discussion point, I’m looking at the rest of the conference in thirds based on current standings because it’s easy with nine opponents. HC was 0-3 against the top third. That was 0-2 at home and 0-1 on the road. Home and road will switch for the second half so only Bucknell from the top tier comes to Hart with BU and Colgate on the road. Things aren’t looking too rosy against this group for the second half.
HC did much better against the middle third going 2-1 (2-0 at home and 0-1 on the road). That will be tough to duplicate in the second half with only one home game against this group. However doing so, which means beating a middle tier team on the road, might be an indicator that the team is making some degree of progress.
HC was 1-2 against the bottom teams. On a positive side all three games were on the road. Improving on this 1-2 SHOULD be a slam dunk with all the games at home. Frankly, I think 2-1 at home against the bottom tier would be a disappointment and a clear sign things aren’t improving, or at least not improving at an acceptable rate .
Just my two cents

Bad as Holy Cross is they are as likely to have fans at The Roof as BU is. Certainly one area where Boston University fit right into the Patriot League. Holy Cross will win/lose that game based on their own (in)competence, not home court factor. And Colgate won't have anyone there at all. I think winning a game in that group is not out of the realm of possibility (notice I didn't say they'd beat Bucknell, fuhgettaboutit)
Other than that, I would agree with your post.

Home court advantage may be mostly, but not completely about crowds. Familiarity with court, background, where you practice, not sleeping in motels, traveling, all are part of it

Familiarity with court, background, where you practice, not sleeping in motels, traveling, all are part of it I think the factors you mention other than crowds are very significant. Some years back when I looked at four years of PL games, the home court advantage for the PL was almost the same as that of the ACC.

Home teams are 23-22 this season in the PL, which ranks 31 out of 32 conferences.

Home records over past nine full seasons in regular PL games:
2017: 47-43 2016: 48-42 2015: 53-37 2014: 50-40 2013: 33-23 2012: 31-25 2011: 31-25 2010: 38-18 2009: 35-21
TOTAL: 366-274 (57.2%)
Any season on its own is a very small sample size.

Home teams are 23-22 this season in the PL, which ranks 31 out of 32 conferences I don’t think the home court is as big an advantage as in the power conferences.. There is a fairly large discrepancy in talent between the top 3 teams in the PL and the bottom 3... Much more than power conferences. I believe if HC could get the Hart Center jumping again, that place can be real tough place to play...fans on top of the court, and it can get loud! A great environment for the good guys!

Looked like a few students climbed up to the Hart last night, maybe there's Hope.
