As a former professional wrestler i know once told me when i accused him of cheating to win the WWF Tag Team title at Wrestlemania, “If you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’.” Was it Beefcake or Valentine?

[b PP. Reprise for us the top 2-3 criteria you listed for evaluating adnp’s job performance, por favor. Lucky for him wins and losses was not among them. IMO, more likely that this involves player(s) doing something that the NCAA prohibits; e.g., The NCAA summer league rules prohibit more than two players from the same school playing on the same summer league team. And the leagues themselves have to be NCAA sanctioned. Another example of a potential NCAA rules violation would be taking summer employment offered by an alum/booster of the school, where the summer job is a no-show job. We got admonished just yesterday by Dean Wormer for engaging in rumor-spreading/speculation on this board. That said, based on what I'm hearing, you're way off base here. Best to wait for actual info to come out.

Only time we've run afoul of the NCAA I can remember was a generation ago a couple of kids got suspended for betting on ballgames; not games that were remotely related to Holy Cross. Was dealt with and everyone moved on. Hopefully for all concerned it's something that's got as few ramifications.

I concede that I could be way off-base, but as you posted the link to the Herald article in the men's hoops forum, rather than elsewhere.....we can draw an inference from that.

Wasn't there also an NCAA violation in men's soccer a decade or so ago? Ended the Elvis Comrie era, IIRC.

Because I'm not 100% sure I won't mention his name.

These are facts acting like speculation to the effect that something relatively minor is involved here. We just don’t know. Dean wormer please freeze this thread until CHC makes a statement of fact.

The school realized they screwed up and reported themselves to the NCAA. They might have been short a scholarship for a year or two as a penalty

Led to Elvis Comrie being fired and banned from coaching at any NCAA institution.

Why are we rehashing old crimes. NewTim didn't remember anything like this more recently than a generation ago and I shared a more recent memory. Also, kind of like a lot of talk about the Pat-Eagles 2004 Super Bowl during the hype for last week's game. Or when something zany happens at Hart and we all start bringing up other crazy things that happened in the past

At least move to HC sports general

I support that move, even if it may only involve players in one sport.

How about we all let the moderator do the moderating?

How about we all let the moderator do the moderating? Perhaps he is unable to and is embroiled in this "scandal" I heard that Dean Wormer channeled money from the student activity fund into the mayor's personal account to get a permit for a homecoming parade

Suspension at HC “for a specified period of time usually no less than one academia semester”. Could be career ending.

Likely as innocent as being in a Super Bowl pool or buying some squares. Probably a violation, but you might as well round up athletes from 350 other D-1 schools and from all the D-2 and D-3 programs as well. And the NAIA (if it still exists), the NJCAA, etc., etc., etc.

Why can I find no such statement?
Looked at the college news sites, athletic dept sites, ADNP's twitter feed. Nada.
If there had been such a statement issued yesterday, I would think JT's twitter feed would mention it by now. She has not, and she is updating today with LOI signings.

The statement was clearly given to/sent to the Herald when they called for comment. Doesn't mean it was posted publicly.
You can be sure that JT is up on The Hill today sniffing around this.

The Herald Sports Editor who tweeted out the link to the “Herald Staff” report is an HC grad.
I hope the rumors that I’m hearing are not true.
