By the way how can a school not have a mascot? Is someone going to dress up as an interlocking HC for games? Couldn't we have adopted something similar to the Providence Friar, but less ghoulish? How about we keep the name Iggy and create a variation of St. Ignatius? HC dropped the ball on the one yard line on this. Seems to have worked ok for University of Michigan.

I did have nightmares of a "dancing HC" Maybe it'll be a double-mascot. One C and One H. Dancing. Like the tango or some other intertwining movement. It could be pretty intimidating at an a capella, or debate, or dance competition.

True but when you have 100,000 fans at a football game the mascot kind of fades out.

You'd have to believe that it'll be the same way that Dartmouth and Harvard don't have mascots.
It could be worse: How 'bout those Purple Violets from NYU? With a bobcat as their mascot?!?! Huh??

Will spare any war stories, but more often than not you had to brave at least an hour long practice in the worst of it to some extent, so the ability to practice indoors improves practice quality tremendously. Not many FL/GA/CA/TX kids enjoy Worcester weather during a nor'easter at practice 7 of Spring Ball. Scranton -
Love your avatar....guessing a scene circa 1975 or so ? Where'd you find it ?
Spent an hour or so one day combing Google Images of every derivative of "Fitton Field." Was looking to find the photo that was/is in the stairwell of the field house - I think that was of the last BC game.

I'm ok with it. Nickname much more important to me than imagery which had changed over the years anyway. I actually like the old school interlocking HC and feel like it gives us a clean, identifiable brand.

Can't be....the old wood visitor side bleachers plus the old outdoor wood track date this pic to sometime pre-1978-79. Last home BC game was 1986 I think.

BTW - Columbia also has a 100 yard indoor practice facility. Granted, it is a 20 minute bus ride north and is a bubble. They installed two years ago. Seemed to help them.
Holy Cross is keeping up and maybe surpassed other FCS programs with Luth, particularly the weight room. W&M, Villanova, Richmond, Lafayette all made major investments in football over last 3 years. If I were to rank facilities, including stadium, locker room, weight room and practice facilities in the PL,
Holy Cross Lafayette Lehigh Colgate Georgetown Fordham Bucknell

Not in the quality of the team........
Nice stadium on beautiful campus. Locker and weight room is high quality - funded by basketball and lacrosse.
Bucknell built new basketball arena, pool, wrestling area and training facility for everyone BUT football. Football facilities/weight room under football stadium on other side of campus. Absolute Dump.
Fordham - locker room in basement under basketball "cathedral", weight room is a bunker under stadium bleachers, maybe 1/6 the size of HC new weight room (seriously)
Georgetown moves up to #5 by default.
Also to note, Chesney brought his strength coach from Assumption. We now have Oliver in charge (x-BC lineman with son on team) plus a football specific strength coach. I expect a more intense off season regimen.

Georgetown’s “nice stadium’??—2500 maybe nice for a hs the rest of Fordham’s and Bucknell’s facilities may be bad, but at least Coffey field holds 7000 and Matthewson 13,000

Debating which of the worst is worse..... I don't see GT or Bucknell investing in football. Fordham will be interesting to watch. Their alumni are hoping the new coach demanded capital investment in football before signing. Yet to be seen.
My point is that I believe HC investment puts us in a compelling argument for any recruit in Patriot, Ivy or CAA. HC raised the bar in PL, now others need to settle or open their checkbook. If not Fordham, Colgate or Lehigh?- but I am not sure either of their alumni are football-crazed.

Georgetown is demolishing the east (visitor) stands. Modest expansion of the west (home) stands. At one point, Georgetown was using a nearby residence hall as a game-day locker room. I believe the visiting team would use Georgetown's locker room. The new $65 million practice hoops building named for Thompson pere has locker rooms for lacrosse and soccer, but not football. I believe Bryant is the only other New England FCS school with an indoor practice field. BC is building one; it looks cheap. www.bryant.edu/resources/images/News/articles2012/IFC.jpgBryant ^^^^ No punting, field goals....

Any truth to the rumor that Georgetown is cutting the football field back to 80 yards long to free up room for a covered parking lot for the basketball players' cars?

If I were to rank facilities, including stadium, locker room, weight room and practice facilities in the PL, Holy Cross Lafayette Lehigh Colgate Georgetown Fordham Bucknell Facilities can be very important as a draw for recruits. But that's when they're generally part of a package of attractive complementary parts. Sometimes the facilities can help create a unified future vision despite missing the complementary pieces, i.e. recent performance. But, it's tricky ! With one .500 season in 6 years, H.C. should be careful to put the facilities in the broader context--be realistic. In and of themselves, they haven't catapulted H.C. into becoming peers of "W&M, Villanova, Richmond, Lafayette, " let alone other stretch opponents on the 2018 and 2019 schedules. Recruits are too sophisticated to be snowed by the new facilities of a "perennial loser. "
