"Vacated" means really nothing. The game was played, and based on the outcome Louisville won. The NCAA, or anyone else for that matter, cannot undo history to say "X team didn't win." Let me rephrase: the NCAA did just that. They said Louisville didn't win. But everyone watching saw it happened. So who cares? This is a twist on the classic tree falling in the forest. If a tree falls in a forest and everyone sees it, does it not because the NCAA said it didn't? Or... something like that. Tell Calipari that vacated means nothing. he has and will for the foreseeable future always bear the stigma of vacating 2 final four berths Pitino now goes even beyon that.

Legitimate amateurs such as most non power 5 conference players are victims by being broad brushed with those guilty The college hoops fans are also victims I am the victim of three very losing seasons in a row. Is adnp guilty? Can I at least sue? No tax charges as far as I can see. Over reach by the DoJ. Since when does the government enforce ncaa violations. Some poor black families trying to make a buck.

Does the end justify the means? That is not what I learned in ethics at HC.

Not sure it’s a crime. The rest don’t matter crime-wise. FBI should use its resources to prevent Russian interference in our voting system. Leave the ncaa to clean it’s own house. Jes’ sayin’.

Final score in their favor, but they got there by cheating. If you win by cheating [and got caught] did you still win? I don't agree with cheating. Sports is hallowed ground. Nevertheless, does the program carry prestige? Do they get recruits and money and TV and butts in seats and merchandise revenue and ad sales and ticket sales and on and on and on... Even if you take away the win on the floor, they already "won" in a number of areas over an extended period of time

Calipari is laughing all the way to the bank, STILL. His players, still opting to play for him (for side pay or whatever reasons), go to the NBA and THEY get paid serious bucks. Calipari is probably treated like a saint in KY. Pitino, same thing. Always thought of as a sleazeball, looked the part, but was paid how much to continue to do this over and over and over again? These guys, if it is proven true that they have "cheated" to use the broad term, have already shown that they don't care so long as they got the money and fame, and got it they have indisputably. The people have paid them too, as both of their salaries (although perhaps somewhat offset by boosters/donations) are paid for by the good taxpayers of Kentucky.

We will see if tricky Ricky has a comeback If Calipari is involved in this, we will see if his reputation survives. Money and a blinded fan base does not equal a positive reputation

Money and a blinded fan base does not equal a positive reputation I'll agree with your last sentence fully. To your second, I wouldn't argue that Calipari has a good reputation as it stands today. He comes off as a dick. Either way, he still coaches a team, he still gets paid millions, he still gets 30 for 30 specials, and he still gets adulation from at least the fan base (and Mike Francesa) and probably more.

U of L is very much concerned about likely loss of revenue from ticket sales and a decline in contributions to athletics and the university itself. Pitino is not going away quietly--I think he is arguing that his dismissal was invalid because the meeting at which it was decided did not comply with the state's "open meetings" law. In a CJ article Pitino said he had not been contacted by any teams about returning to coaching, but at age 65, and with his ego, I don't think he's ready to retire.

Perhaps they're thinking if they act swiftly, they look like they're taking this seriously and will get lesser penalties.

Based on what we learned today what did any one coach do that was illegal? Might there be another shoe to drop?

Perhaps they're thinking if they act swiftly, they look like they're taking this seriously and will get lesser penalties. Based on Seth Davis’ article, the schools may declare the players mentioned ineligible to avoid possible forfeiture of upcoming games they may play in. Such as happened to Louisville

Duke said they investigated. No problem. Their only player mentioned was said to merely have had lunch with Miller

Yeah, the Carter lunch probably isn't a show-stopper.
