Yes...but I don’t think it will ever happen.

Coach cheats . . .school gets caught. . . school gets penalized . . . coach resigns/gets fired in disgrace. . . coach almost immediately gets a new job while his old school is still dealing with aftermath. It's a common story
On the flip side, what are these schools thinking? When they go out and hire the disgraced coach, do they honestly believe he has changed his spots? Or are they saying we want to win and win at any cost?
Kentucky misses the tournament one year (and were in the midst of a 10 year Final Four drought). They can their coach and bring in a two time cheater. In many cases, the schools are sending a message to their coaches

To be clear, I like the post..not the situation! Schools are clearly aware of what is being done and how it is being done. They will face the bigger penalties in most cases. I feel that is fair, but coaches with patterns of such cheating should be banned. IMHO.

The NCAA TPTB are also in an interesting position. The decision makers in Indianapolis are all likely very well paid and they like their jobs. If they ever decided to do the right thing and actually adhere to the organization's mission they'd run the risk of really irritating the coaches and AD's that keep them in office and that keep the NCAA alive. We've all heard the suggestions that the P5 conferences should break away and form their own organization where they could keep all the TV money, pay players, and dispense with the nonsense of players actually being students. If that happens the big job and the big crib in Carmel go away. I hate to be cynical here--maybe we'll actually see the cesspool drained, but I cedrtainly would not bet on it.

The NCAA will do nothing until the FBI is done—could take quite a while. It is up to the accused schools to act, suspend players, fire coaches, ADs, to avoid eventual very harsh NCAA penalties. They can do little to avoid the FBI criminal penalties.

Once upon a time there was a Jesuit who thought college presidents being true educators ( and who in theory run all of the member institutions that make up the NCAA) would step up and do the right thing. He was wrong. Money trumped integrity.
Is it reasonable to hope that once these guys have gone totally to the dark side that they'll suddenly step up and reign in athletic departments? Darth Vader only turns away from the dark side in the movies

Sean Miller not coaching tonight He is toast Don't see how he can worm his way out of this situation. Claim it was a joke? Doesn't matter if they paid the kid or not, does it?

Amazing that Ayton is going to play Is Ayton's name on that balance sheet? But given the arrest of the assistant coach, pretty easy to connect the dots, so maybe that's enough to dq the kid.

So Miller denies the conversation ever took place? Tough to backtrack from that if it's a lie. Good luck to him.

I resent that. We all know that Rhode Island is always ranked first or second (to Louisianna) in corruption!
