Tough road loss for what was a winnable game. Riding to Colgate is never the best prep for a game! It’s not the end of the world. They have Tuesday off to rest up for Navy, which is probably the best scenario for them; should have had a W there in early January. I recall someone saying it’s all about three games in March!

Yes. Random words. Were you talking about Colgate taking both regular season games this season? Only two games at opposite ends of the PL season, is that still called a “sweep”? If you know the results, what is the “wow” here... with maximum spacing for what..dramatic effect?

Guessing that the “wow” is that we have fallen so far as a program that we have lost twice to a team we would have slaughtered in our glory days ...

Times and players do change. No doubt about that. I am not looking past Navy, but I am looking forward to seeing next year’s team already. It was interesting how often the announcers spoke about how young our last two opponents were, but did not seem willing to give HC their props in that regard.

To put it in perspective Loyola was brought in as a sacrificial lamb when the Hart opened now we are in a conference with them.

To anyone who is surprised that we got swept by Colgate this season:
Where have you been the last 10 years? Not exactly an uncommon occurrence anymore. 2007 was a long time ago.
And this year's Colgate team may be the best I've seen over that span, ahead of the squad that made the PLC in 2008 against AU. They should have beaten BC this year.

Not the first time we've been swept by Colgate Four times in the last 25 years - once under Raynor (99), twice under Willard (2002, 2008), and under Kearney (2010).

going into this season, our all time record vs. colgate was 60-22 - teamer is bemoaning the incredulous fact that how can a school with 'zero' basketball culture/history (save the 'lucky' years they had Foyle), located in middle of ny state, with 'next to nothing' fan support, possibly have played competitively against HC in the the last two decades. I share this disbelief, but unfortunately it's reality now. the state of this 'rivalry' is a microcosm of where out entire athletic program has fallen.

If you change the comment about "zero" basketball culture/history to "ancient" basketball culture/history, and then say that the school is located in the middle of MA state, you'd be speaking about Holy Cross.

Beginning with the 07-08 season, I believe our record against Colgate is now something like 13-11 including PLT games.

To put it in perspective Loyola was brought in as a sacrificial lamb when the Hart opened now we are in a conference with them. In 1978 Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell were Division II. Fordham and Georgetown either had yet to revive football or were DIII in that sport. Monmouth, SHU, CCSU and Albany were DII twenty-five years ago. North Dakota State was still a probationary FCS member when I started college in 2006. All means nothing now. I think it's stupid to measure the value of today's wins and losses based on what level opponents were playing at 10, 25 and 40 years ago. If we scheduled and lost to CCNY in basketball next year, I don't think anyone would say, "Oh well, they've been a perennial national title contender in the past. Nothing to worry about here!"

Not sure where you're getting your info. Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell were all D-I schools in basketball in 1978 and before (called "University Division" prior to 1973). Football had been D-II through 1977 when the D-1AA was created.

Accd to Sports-Reference Bucknell has been D-1 since 1895, Lafayette since 1900, and Lehigh since 1901
