From Football Scoop:
Los Angeles Rams: Holy Cross (FCS – MA) offensive coordinator Liam Coen has accepted a position on the Rams’ offensive staff, sources told FootballScoop. Coen joined the staff earlier this year, and prior to that was the offensive coordinator at Maine in 2016-17 and coached quarterbacks at UMass, Brown and Rhode Island.

Too bad, as Coen was a great get for Chesney. Hard to fault him moving from the Worcester and the PL to Los Angeles and the NFC West champions.

Not great timing for us. However, in Chez we trust. I’m sure we will find someone even better.

Getting offered such a position shows our new head man is a good judge of talent...there will be someone on board soon, I am sure.

Is this a matter of Coen getting an NFL offer at 2X or 3X or 4X what HC was going to pay him?

As SoV notes - you do the math.
Isn't a single of us with a building a career in mind who wouldn't do the same.

Looked through the Rams coaching staff, the pass game coordinator is newly promoted from TE Coach. Shane Waldron has earlier ties to Tufts, Billy B., UMass, so that may be the connection..The TE coach appears to be vacant.

I'm sure it's a great move for him professionally, I was just excited about that pickup for us.

Tough break on Coen. Spring practice Monday. Hope the hiring of an OC is imminent.

I suspect it’s much easier to interview potential coordinators in the Luth than it was in the Fieldhouse. Hard not to be impressed regardless of where a candidate is currently employed.
