I think the first round is played on campus, and the semi's and final are at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield....

Last 4 are played at the Mohegan Sun Arena, not in Spfld.

I assume that’s one where the good teams are guaranteed to play each other in the semis and finals. True?

From Wiki:
The Hall of Fame Tip Off is a preseason tournament organized by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame which features eight NCAA Division I men’s basketball teams. Teams are separated into two divisions, the Springfield and Naismith, with the winner of the Naismith bracket named tournament champion. Eight games are played on the campus' of the teams in the Naismith division before the tournament takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

So looks like we would play 2 of the 4 Naismith teams on their campus - Michigan, Providence, GW,South Carolina And then a little 4 team tourney with Stony Brook, Siena and Norfolk at the Sun . The Naismith teams would have a 4 team tourney among themselves at the Sun also.

Sounds like Mohegan Sun may be Naismith Division teams only

Looks like a great tournament to me. The Anti Pine &Carmody crew must be very busy working on talking points now...

Looks like a great tournament to me. The Anti Pine &Carmody crew must be very busy working on talking points now... Too funny. Um, we “got into” the same tournament with DR and MB in 2013-14. Now being one of the 4 bottom feeders of this tournament is viewed as an accomplishment for Pine and Carmody? Oh my!

All the teams play at Mohegan Sun. There are two separate ticket sessions of two games each day. The four early round home hosts make play in the same session against one another each day (typically the early afternoon). The four teams that were on the road in the early rounds play one another in the other sessions (typically the night session).
I went to the games there last year in 2016. The four early round home hosts were Duke, Cincinnati, Rhode Island, and Penn State. All but PSU were ranked. Duke (PSU) and URI (Cinci) won their first day games and Duke (URI) and Cincinnati (PSU) won the second day games. Both sessions drew near sellout over 10k crowds which was a record for the event. It does not usually draw that well.

Having URI there certainly boosted the crowd...and PC there in 2018 will keep the numbers up for sure.
So HC will get one game at a large venue and probably have to travel a bit (unless it's at PC) for that game..then at least one more real good opponent close to Worcester (hint for those who say they want to see HC play, but only against someone good).

Holy Cross would play two games (vs two of Siena, Stony Brook, and Norfolk State) at Mohegan Sun and two at opponent campus sites (two of Michigan, South Carolina, PC, and GW).

HC played at UNC back in the 13-14 season, then lost to Belmont, and beat Hartford at Mohegan. Don't recall the other power school they visited.

I don't think there was another power school that year, Dave.
I would fully expect that we'll play at PC as one of our "road" games.

I believe that we are scheduled to play Siena at the Hart Center next season. So we could play Stoney Brook or Norfolk State in this tournament. Possible road game at Providence.
