Round 1 is in the books with most posters picking Army and Lafayette! But the Black Knights let us down and continued their end of year losing ways and were defeated by Loyola while Lafayette beat American by 7 in a high scoring game! Kudos to Worcester Gray, hcnation, Tom, A Clock Tower Purple, rgs318 and efg72 for picking both winners!  Overall we were 23/34 for 68%! Worcester Gray has pulled even with KY Crusader 75 for a first place tie with Sons of Vaval only 1 behind in second place! With 4 games on Thursday and to add some excitement/intrigue, I'm asking that KY Crusader 75, Worcester Gray and Sons of Vaval "pm" me with their picks. Andre Walker, his first team all PL selection unfathomable to me, went 5/20 on twos and 5/16 on threes in the two games, and Bucknell's outstanding defense will be on the floor tonight. Colgate-- Lafayette won both games in regular season. Colgate has won three games in a row after the Bucknell debacle and a loss to the surging Lehigh team. Lafayette lost to BU by 16 and Lehigh by 15 before a narrow win over American at home in latest. Lafayette's defense has been really ineffective of late and it has taken ridiculous 3 point shooting percentage for Laf to post wins. Holy Cross-- Navy should be favored but I'm going to put my faith in the Crusaders. HC played so much better in the second half of the schedule (despite the loss-of-mojo defeat by Navy) and HC has played differently. In the first half of the PL schedule HC took 43% of its fg attempts from beyond the arc and made 31% of them. In the second half the attempts dropped to 37% of the total and HC connected on 29%, really, really sub-optimal. With the increased focus on two point shooting Holy Cross went from a 2 pt fg % of 54% in the first half to 58% in second half. HC took 25 more two point attempts in second half of PL season and made 25 more baskets. As well, we went to the line a lot more often (cause & effect, likely), taking 36 more free throws and making 39 more. Coach Carmody's Crusader teams are 5-2 in post-season play and maybe we'll see some new wrinkles in our play today. Lehigh-The home team won both regular season games. Boston U had lost 5 games in a row before winning the last two with defense. Walter Whyte has returned to the BU lineup . Lehigh has won 8 games in a row with offense. After 6 straight games with 50% or better 3 point percentage, Lehigh's shooting has been off of late, but "off" for Lehigh has just meant making 1 of 3--no 5/28 travesties for them. Lehigh has momentum and likely confidence and is playing at home.
