Coach says the object of the one is for the seniors to have fun. They are traveling down today to Bucknell. Massey makes Bucknell a 12 point favorite and gives them an 86% chance for the win. In their first game at HC, the Bison won by 24. In the second game at Bucknell, they won by 9. Heck, we are getting closer and, as is often said, it is hard to beat a team three times in one year. We'll see tomorrow.
GO CROSS!

Last game in Lewisburg we trailed by as many as 34 points in the third qtr and lost by only 9. We probably won't fall behind by that much nor will we manage to keep the final score in single digits. Bucknell has an rpi of 88, while we are 235. That's a fare reflection on the gap in this one.
Pulling this game out would help everyone feel a lot better about this under-achieving team. A likely loss will send this senior class out as the only group to not have a single winning season for their careers since we've been playing in D.1.

HC does not look like a D1 team; a product of very poor recruiting. Offensively challenged to say the least. Luckily, Bucknell is not very good either.

you're right - 19 pct shooting - 6 turnovers after the 1st qtr - down 12-7 - could be a lot worse

Sum of its parts = the whole = not very good.

Thanks to Manis' 11 points (all in the 2nd qtr) and Byrne making some shots, we're definitely in this one. Both teams played with nerves in the 1st qtr, 2nd qtr had a much better rhythm.

That overturned foul call would have sent HC to the line since BU is over the limit. There was no time when two players had the ball but it was ruled a "jump ball" for some unknown reason. Terrible job by the zebras.

BU comes back and gets a bucket and 1. That should do it.

HC couldn't score down the stretch; overall, when your two top scorers go 8-32 combined, you ain't winning.

That overturned foul call would have sent HC to the line since BU is over the limit. There was no time when two players had the ball but it was ruled a "jump ball" for some unknown reason. Terrible job by the zebras. What happened was that one referee blew the whistle in error. He was told by the other two that there was no contact and he agreed it was an inadvertent whistle. By rule, an inadvertent whistle when neither team has the ball becomes a jump ball situation, and the arrow was in Holy Cross's favor. Like almost all women's crews at this level, this crew was poor. It is very hard to find quality refs for the women's game. Almost all men would rather ref men's games, so the male refs are the typically the bottom tier in quality. And I know from experience that there are not that many females who want the lifestyle of a full-time college referee with the constant travel etc.

I had some contacts with the seniors throughout the years with them using my pics and so on...class individuals and great representatives of the school.

I think you can say that about the great majority of the ladies that come through our program. That's the frustrating part of following this team and coach. The nicer our ladies are, the tougher it seems to be to compete in this league for some reason. These last two seasons have been particularly difficult - 21-40 overall and 13-23 in the league.
It's not unfair for most of us to ask for more. I'm curious if the administration is asking for more.

Bison got spanked at West Va yday in the WNIT 83-50 - very different from the men's game, where the talent gap between the PL and majors is narrower - and playing on the higher seed's floor is also a big disadvantage

Navy loses 55-54 to Virginia Tech on a last second shot. They missed a bunch of bunnies & free throws in the 90 secs. Should of won this game, had a 13 pt lead at the half.

AU came back from an 18-point first-half deficit at UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday, closing within four in the third quarter and getting as close as six in the fourth. But the Bruins' size and length was too much to overcome and they won the first-round game at Pauley Pavillion, 71-60. Junior Cecily Carl, the MVP of the Patriot League Tournament, had a double-double in her first NCAA Tournament game, with 22 points and 10 rebounds. We outrebounded the much bigger Bruins 38-35 but their halfcourt trap turned the game around in the first quarter, setting them off on a 25-3 run. We came back behind Carl and junior Elina Koskimies, who hit three three-pointers, trailed by nine at the half and got within 45-41 midway through the third on a layup by Maria Liddane. But UCLA went inside to its all-conference forward, Monique Billings (20 points, 10 rebounds) down the stretch, and we couldn't stop her.
The Eagles finished the season 26-7. The 26 wins are a school record, men or women; so was the team's 17-game win streak that secured the regular season PL title. And they finished the year unbeaten at Bender Arena, with a 16-0 mark. Very proud of this team, going toe to toe with a team ranked in the top 10 nationally on their home court and repping the PL well.

They messed up the bracket - violating one of their rules for matchups - and had to make a last second switch. They took Bucknell away from a winnable game to one where they had no shot.
