made the playoffs for the first time since 2015–the good news the bad—they lost to Loyola today, 23-3–not a typo

Ouch.
But there is some more good news, top-seed Loyola is not our opponent in the first game of tournament (they have a bye, thank goodness). It is 3rd-seed Lehigh.

Lost 16-15 in OT. Very respectable outcome.

While this season (6-12) was not as good as last season (7-10) it was certainly better than two years ago (3-14). So, in a way, things are looking up in women's lacrosse at HC.

I watched part of the game last night. HC was down 2 with less than a minute to play, but scored with around 49 seconds to go and then again with only 5 seconds to go to tie the game. The teams played two overtimes (3 minutes each) and Lehigh scored the winning goal with only about 12 seconds left in the second overtime (it was sudden death so the game ended there). I thought the women played with great enthusiasm. HC lost to the same Lehigh team two weeks ago; if I recall correctly, the score in that game was 15-11.

Agree, the team showed a lot of spunk and almost pulled off a big upset. We lose only 2 seniors, Moran and goalie Maloney (a 3 yr starter). Next season's prospects will depend on who replaces Maloney. But the reality is that this team was 15-34 over the last 3 seasons with one playoff appearance, and that is pretty typical of our entire athletic program. When will we turn the corner ?

A very good question, Haze. One that typically can only be answered in hindsight.

You'll turn the corner when the scollies start appearing.
In W LAX, HC was second lowest in the PL in spending in 2015-16 and 2016-17. AU was lower. All other schools spent between $300,000 and $600,000 more on W LAX. That said, HC increased spending by about $200,000 from '15-'16 to '16-'17.
M LAX spending is abut the same as Bucknell, both at the bottom of the league. HC M's spending is stagnant, and both schools are outpaced by schools that spend twice as much or more.

In men's lax, Bucknell spending was last in the PL - but they tied for 1st on the field. They weren't "outpaced" by anyone in regular season play and are on the bubble for an at-large spot in the NCAA tournament. Over the past four years, Bucknell has been dramatically outspent by Lehigh, Colgate, and Boston U - who all are either fully funded or fairly close - yet they have had a lot more league wins than any of those three. It's more than just the money.

I'm just so proud of Bucknell.
