Okay. I’ll be the one to say it. We need to couple the awards about having a lot of good students on our athletic teams with more good athletic teams.

Especially when MBB starts getting dinged for the miscreants falling off the roster. 13 years in a row for MBB on this award list coming to an end soon.

I would be very happy to hear Holy Cross mentioned in the same breath with Belmont and Davidson when it comes to MBB performance on the court.

At this point I’d trade all 13 of these awards in for a competitive team.

Okay. I’ll be the one to say it. We need to couple the awards about having a lot of good students on our athletic teams with more good athletic teams. Good students and consistently winning D-1 teams? This ranking doesn't address that.
We are awesome (#2 in the nation according to this) in the good students (measured by the APR) and fielding D-1 teams category.

As always, we can find the cloud around any silver lining

KY Crusader 75—finding a cloud for every silver lining or reality testing? A very brief look at the data in the announcement on the HC website shows that in 4 of the last 6 yrs, Bucknell had a higher rank than HC and that, even in the last 2 yrs., Bucknell was also in the top 10 and the overall on field/on court performance of their teams in terms of PL championships and winning teams over that 6 yr. period was much better.
Our student athletes are to be commended for their accomplishments as students. But as the posters in this thread rightly point out, that’s only part of the equation. I suspect that some posters see that by highlighting this excellent academic achievement without coupling it with a comparative look at athletic performance some people with the power to make changes (admin, Trustees) may remain satisfied with the athletic performance status quo.
With all of the focus on the Crusader nickname and mascot and how they relate to the mission of the school, it seems that TPTB may have lost sight of the school’s motto—A Commitment To Excellence”—at least as it relates to on field/on court performance.
Here’s hoping that the completion of the Luth and the hiring of Coach Chesney are two of many steps to be taken over the next several yrs. to improve the athletic portion of the report card.

The list proves that you can be a highly regarded institution AND have a competitive athletic program in select sports. It isn't one or the other, and please spare me the nonetheless that HC is too small and just too hard to be both.
