In the latest HC e-magazine, there are photographs of the NROTC commissioning ceremony. (Any HC students who are AROTC or AFROTC are commissioned at WPI.)
I counted three HC graduates being commissioned.
Looking at the Yale NROTC facebook page, the number of Yale students in NROTC would appear to out-number those at HC. (When Yale re-allowed ROTC back on campus a few years ago, Yale NROTC was paired with HC; , IIRC, HC was the parent institution.)
Is HC's low number of commissionings in 2016 simply an anomaly? Or has the overall program fallen on lean times?

Anomaly. In fact, HC received an increase in scollies for the incoming class. Happy to email the latest newsletter on the program if anyone wants to PM me with contact info. Some of HC's biggest donors served in the military, including Park Smith and our PAC benefactor among others.

thanks matunuck.
Was concerned that if enrollment dropped enough, that the Navy would move the program elsewhere.

Not to worry pp... this year's HC graduating class [2 headed for ships in San Diego and Norfolk, the other Nuc Power school] is an anomaly for no Marine as well as it number. Including these seniors the midshipmen battalion stood at 70 last year. A dozen are expected to be commissioned next year, half from HC the rest from WPI & WSU... this group as well as approx 30 rising sophs & juniors scholarship mids are on cruise this summer around the world.
last year's 4/c midshipmen class [frosh] of 40 from HC & WPI was recognized by the Navy as the strongest in the country... it was evenly divided and half on scholarship evenly divided... there is an up tick in 'walk on's' ie non scholarships; this year's 4/c group, which includes Brown, should be close to last year's.
The O'Callahan Society is gearing up to celebrate 75 continuous years of ROTC on campus at fall Homecoming. Send me a PM if you want to get on our contact list.

That number does seem low....seemed like there were dozens of NROTC students at HC in the mid/late 1980s (memory is a funny thing but it seemed like a lot given their presence on campus in uniform at times).....different time and all that perhaps.
