Fenway Park's status as a venue favoring hitters was based on factors beyond just the Green Monster. Fenway had a great hitting background that batters must have loved. Look at the home versus away batting averages for these players who spent their whole careers only with Boston: Yastrzemski: .306/.264; Rice: .320/.277; Petrocelli: .272/.230; Doerr: .315/.261; Williams: .361/.328. Williams hit more home runs on the road than at home: 273 vs 248; but the rest hit more at Fenway and for Petrocelli and Doerr it was almost 2 to 1 Fenway vs Road.

Thus it would make no sense for a recognition of Potter to be in the Blaney gym.
What would make more sense is to hang duplicates of all "game court" banners in the Blaney so that every player - men and women, can have a daily reminder of the stars who have preceded them.

The Celtics and Bruins recently built new practice facilities in Brighton. Both facilities have banners for their team that match those in the Garden - Championships and retired numbers

One thing HC certainly has going for it compared to every other PL school and all the Ivies is its record on the hardwood. We should be playing that for all it's worth. Yes, most of it happened long ago, but it is...or should be...part of the program's DNA. For me, players worthy of special recognition in the Hart and not in some ancillary facility include folks like Chris Potter, Ron Perry, Jr., Ed Siudut, Keith Hochstein, Michael Vicens and John Wendelken (in that order in my very humble opinion). There are few schools of our size anywhere that can match HC's basketball history. Let's celebrate that history to the max...and start a b'ball renaissance on the Hill while we're at it!

Ron Perry Jr.’s number 15 is already in the rafters of the Hart.
