Interesting that the release says Freeman's duties "will include heavy involvement in recruiting efforts." I was under the impression that the DoBO couldn't recruit, or that there was a limit on the number of staff members that could participate in recruiting. Maybe I've misunderstood.

My understanding is you can only have so many coaches on the road and contacting student-athletes. He can watch video and do some of the logistical things with the recruiting.

He also can be the point man when recruits visit

His AAU connections may be important for recruiting purposes. His coaching background maybe less so - Mother Seton Academy is a middle school.

Dobos are rarely called upon to do coaching on the floor. It is an entry position for almost all(RW the exception at Louisville)

Dobos are rarely called upon to do coaching on the floor. It is an entry position for almost all(RW the exception at Louisville) By rule they cannot coach players directly at any time. They can give recommendations to the coach. As for recruiting, as you say the DOBO is pretty much limited to being the point person during a visit.

Apparent connection is that Metzendorf and the new guy were at Cornell at the same time. Impressive academic resume, that's for sure.

Imagine the dobo might schedule/facilitate campus visits, official & unofficial looks like he arrives in time to participate in the bball camps beginning Friday

And he will man the office during the July recruiting period while the other 3 coaches are on the road.

How on earth did Holy Cross do without a DOBO for years? Your honor, I withdraw the question.

I would never expect a Bucknell grad to have a reading comprehension issue!
