You guys are bordering on "political." My understanding is he is still an FBI agent and while Mueller correctly kicked him off his investigative team, that is not exactly the same as being fired but more like being reassigned since Mueller could not fire him from the FBI, his actual employer. Let's see what the IG says when they are done.

Righteous indignation?

Pretty sure Congressional approval rating will officially hit 0 at some point this year. Lot of stupid people who have no interest in doing what’s right for the country on both sides. Not a big surprise that we have as many problems as we do given the culture in a Washington. It’s nothing new but it is awful to see. 80% of the country probably agrees on 90% of the issues but only the views of the other 20% are ever heard coming from our elected representatives.

Excellent post, 92. If construed as "political," it is bi-partisan and should get a waiver.

Representation based on the will of the voters can be "messy." FBI agents as well as those in other sensitive government positions should be like"Caesar's wife" and avoid even the appearance of bias or impropriety. Oh, and keep your"stuff" off emails, government or personal.

Couldn't you have at least updated your simile? How 'bout "FBI agents as well as those in other sensitive government position should be like Trump's [3rd] wife and avoid even the appearance of bias or impropriety?" After all, FLOTUS, is sometimes seen but rarely heard. If FBI agents, Congressional members and others in the federal government were just occasionally seen and very rarely seen, we'd all be better off. Can I get an "AMEN?"

Congressional members should be seen, but mostly just by their constituents

How about the member of Congress calling the witness “Stro-zack” over and over?

That's quite acceptable considering I never could pronounce Fr. K's last name. Why do you think we called him "Fr. K?" To his credit, he seemed to understand our limitations. God Bless Him!

FYI -- Text from hearing:
GOODLATTE: The Chair recognizes the gentleman from California, Mr. DeSaulnier, for five minutes.
DESAULNIER: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I want to thank you for your testimony and your service. It's been a long day and I admire your resume. I came from a similar background. I went to a catholic high school and a catholic college. I remember going to Holy Cross and having people say the graduates from Harvard and Yale make the laws, but the graduates from Holy Cross and Fordham enforce the laws. And we always took great pride in that because I think you as well, and I having had friends who have served in the Bureau took great pride in that -- that education reinforce your ethical beliefs in a difficult world where we make -- all make mistakes and that's part of our humanity. So I admire your work.

I wonder if Strzok knew what a smarmy look he had on his face. Didn't seem to matter who was asking the question, Dem or Rep, either.

I wonder if Strzok knew what a smarmy look he had on his face. Didn't seem to matter who was asking the question, Dem or Rep, either. Strzok was well rehearsed by his counselors with pat answers to the obvious questions. Still, his underlying arrogance came through very clearly.....

I often wonder how much of a person's reaction to a government official's testimony is influenced by the viewer's previously held beliefs - like much of life, a context thing. My reactions and the reactions of my friends to Strzok's testimony were totally different from those recent opinions expressed on this board. "Six Blind Men And The Elephant"?

Perhaps the perceived smarmy look came from knowing what's coming down the road. Soon after the hearing date, thirteen Russians were indicted. 12 by Mueller, and one by the DOJ's National Security Division. The one being the woman who allegedly engaged in contacting individuals to advance a political agenda and who is charged with espionage.
With unpredictability prevailing as the principle of the moment, it is best, IMO, to not climb too far out on the limb, or even climb a tree. The woodchoppers are out and about, including a few who apparently don't care that you are out on a limb.. __________________________________________ Edited at add that the prevailing wisdom is that the woman was hurriedly indicted because of fears she was about to flee the U.S.

IMHO, this thread has run its course and while most have tried to stay out of the political arena, it is borderline at best.
Since the subject was the testimony of the FBI agent which is now long since past, I would suggest to Dean Wormer, not deleting the thread but putting a freeze on it as anyone who has had an interest in expressing an opinion has had more than enough time to do so.
