I couldn't find earlier threads on BV, so I'm starting a new one. Reason being, I saw a recruiting video that I hadn't seen before. Refreshing, since it mentions both strengths AND weaknesses. I don't know if I have ever seen another video where the recruit doesn't make 100% of his shots!
I know some have expressed concern over the lack of offers, and it does seem strange given this evaluation. Maybe he just was real unlucky in the game of musical chairs that recruiting can be sometimes; maybe schools were scared off because of his ultra thin frame. I have no idea of the level of competition in high school, but it's nice that he was at least a very productive player (close to 20 ppg), rather than someone just running up and down the floor. I am certainly rooting for him to be that diamond in the rough that we describing as a real steel down the road.

Looks pretty athletic but boy does he need to get stronger. Saw one nice up and under move in the post, (I don't think he was able finish it), but that probably won't fly against D1 competition unless he gets a lot stronger.

This video was posted way back when, buried inside a 2018 thread, I think.
Another interesting feature is that it highlights defense, unlike most of these reels. Verbeek does seem to have enough agility to jump out to the perimeter and back into the paint, which seems to be the way Carmody likes to play it.
Another factor working against his recruitment - one which BV frankly has acknowledged in interviews - is that he is not a traditional big, preferring to operate outside. That wouldn't work in a lot of systems, but he might be the kind of "point post" that would be effective in the current offensive scheme.

I can see him getting shots from the elbow, and stepping out on the pick and pop.....
