Is it good or bad to see HC as a "drop in the bucket" in terms of enrolled college students in Worcester?

Based on the fact that this is a "basketball" tweet, sounds like recruiting propaganda. "Hey. Worcester is a cool college town"

Is it good or bad to see HC as a "drop in the bucket" in terms of enrolled college students in Worcester? Just a numbers situation. WPI's undergrad enrollment is about 4,500. Worcester St. is about 5,500 undergrads.

Worcester State Student, Holy Cross fan. does HC recognize your student ID for tix? I am not sure, I have never tried it. But it is a good idea and I will try next time.

They were doing the same “college town” marketing in 1988 and I had literally no interaction with any students from other colleges in my four years in Worcester.

Ah, but then again, HC was co-ed and you probably didn't have ladies visiting at "mixers" from Anna Maria, Becker Junior, etc.

Having gone to WPI, I never really considered Worcester to be a "college town" in the sense that term generally means. I have always seen it more as a town that happens to have some colleges located in it.

Now long gone (as is the hospital on the hill where it operated - no pun intended) but it was the school that made it possible for me to meet my wife at the first mixer of my junior year. Also, Nichols (a junior college at the time) used Holy Cross classrooms for (IIRC) about two years while their building(s) was going on.

Any chance you mean "Nichols College" in Dudley where Fr. K gave a great lecture on the 150th anniversary of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln?

I wouldn't have if I didn't have a few connections with Nichols. I was at Fr. K's lecture courtesy of an invitation from the history professor there who arranged Fr. K's speech (he was an expert on Lincoln). I have a nice picture of me standing next to the Nichols Bison (much nicer than Bucknell's ). Did you know Holy Cross' "official" bus company, Silver Fox, is also the bus company for Nichols? Did you know Nichols was founded before Holy Cross? Did you even know Nichols is located within Worcester County? They have a small but very nice and modern campus - and it's flat! P.S. 45 now also has a connection to Nichols.

My oldest grandson will be a Freshman in a couple of weeks. Nichols is known and often referred to as Bentley West! !

To answer your questions... 1. Yes 2. No (when was it founded?) - not easy to find the date 3. Yes They also have an excellent online presence that has impressed a few of my former students. User friendly.

Understand what and why they are doing it, but Worc is about the furthest locale (with multiple schools) from a "college town" that one could find.

Hopefully Worcester will get more college students living downtown along with Mass College of Pharmacy and Becker students.
