"The Top of Money's Rankings is crowded with large campuses because our analysis favors schools that benefit large numbers of students from disadvantaged backgrounds - something bigger colleges simply have more seats to do. But for students looking for a more intimate academic experience, these are the highest-ranking colleges with fewer than 5,000 students."
1. MIT 2. Cal Tech 3. Rice 4. Mass Maritime Academy 5. Washington & Lee 6. Williams 7. Swarthmore 8. College of the Holy Cross 9. Dartmouth 10. Bates
Money's list of "The Top 50 Best Colleges in the U.S. has Holy Cross coming in at #42. Their rationale for ranking: "The Schools that top Money's rankings deliver a superior education at an affordable price, enabling graduates to avoid heavy debt and succeed in the workplace. The full list of 727 colleges is available online at money.com/best colleges." FWIW, no other Patriot League school made the top 50.

That's only for "small colleges." Notre Dame comes in at #30 of top 50. Georgetown comes in at #46, 4 slots below HC.

HC beats Bowdoin, Colby, Amherst, other well-regarded schools.
Of course, for some of our posters the only ranking that counts is USN&WR

Nice list. HC at #8. Its rivals, at least in terms of applicant overlap and Patriot League, nowhere in sight.
The Buccaneers of Massachusetts Military Academy slip in at #4 while the school one might think may one day change its name, Washington and Lee, come in at #5.

Typo on your part, I think, as it's Mass Maritime. I think many maritime school grads start out earning big incomes and that likely helped the school's rating
