And this is why I no longer make the trip to Hamilton. Weather looks perfect today but, when we are big favorites and go there, we may or may not eek out a win. When we are favorites, we lose a close one. When we are underdogs, we get killed.
"Wait 'til next year!"

Definitely some good things. We have continued to compete despite being down 21-0 early in the second. Our running game has been pretty good. Passing game has been poor. Defense is going to be really tired at the end of this one given the time of possession disparity. Can’t turn the ball over 3 times in a half against a team like Colgate. Without the three turnovers, we’d still be in the game.

I don't think Clifford sees the field well. Designed rollout and he heaves it on the run to a HC receiver surrounded by three Colgate defenders.
I think the underlying issue is, as mentioned earlier, is an OC whose career is rooted in NESCAC and Div II, and isn't ready for FCS prime time.

Wade needs to go in to pass. Down 24.

I'm out. This OC is brutal and we are talking about the first game of the season. You're down 24 and you call and RPO on 2 and 10 and lose 4 yards. This is what we are talking about? Wow. Offensive Coordinator has some work to do because if I were on D and I were on the sideline I'd basically look at the OC and say "are you kidding me"?

Not changing QBs at halftime has me even more worried about the depth at the position than I was before the game

BC 48 UMass 7 H.....good Lord Next week will be difficult to watch. BC football fans can't be looking forward to it. BC coaches probably are hoping to run a few real plays and giving their starters a few real series. They can't be looking forward to it either.

The difference in overall talent is pretty stark. We are a very young team with an inexperienced QB. This building process is going to take some time- years not games, in my opinion.

if you don't trust the friggin QB to throw the ball he shouldn't be playing. We aren't talking about BC...we are talking about Colgate. It's a peer. I could care less about them having more experience. This is like they are playing....let's lose by 35, not lose by 50. Yikes.

6 for 9 for 21 yards. What decade are we in??? Holy crap. 2 yards per pass attempt. Guys - this is sad. Oh not wait...they have 3 All American DB's in the Colgate backfield right? Someone said it above. You have a NESCAC OC running this. Pretty apparent he's in a little over his head. But then again, that's on Chesney.

The strength of this team on O is at the WR. Bell, Denicola, Dorsey, Ayeni, Montgomery. Get them the ball. Jeez. A total of 4 catches for 22 yards for that entire group.

2nd and 18, down 24, play call is a zone read.
37 minutes into the game, Blaise Bell has touched the ball once and Tenio Ayeni has touched the ball zero times.
Torch this offense.

Miles Alexander with his shoulder pads off. May be done for the day. Not good. He has 12 carries for 75 yards and has been one of the only bright spots in an anemic offensive effort.

I'll say this. I'm all in on Chesney. I love the enthusiasm of the staff. They are getting recruiting wins. BUT...this offense isn't good right now and what worries me more isn't necessarily the QB play, but more the philosophy. Clifford based on my eye sight isn't the guy at this level. His throws weren't accurate, he didn't push the ball down the field. Take your lumps with Degenhardt and go from there if this is the offense. Your strength is in your WRs and they didn't touch the ball.
Love the way the D is playing.
Good to see a FG from a Frosh kicker.
