I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but Holy Cross football got some nice recognition from Charles Pierce in the September 10th issue of SI. It's a 2 page article commenting on conflicting feelings about being a football fan which leads him to recall his early days as a Holy Cross fan. Can't post a link, I still just get SI in the mail.

CP was a Wisstah I kid I believe...matriculated with our Jesuit cousins at Marquette.
I'd like to read that...big fan of Pierce.

Thanks ACTP....too funny, the sense of smell and memory are so intertwined...my brothers and I have often said the same, the smell of cigar-smoke evokes memories of watching games as a kid at Fitton as Pierce said in the piece. I think Addazio said the same thing when he was talking about going to Fitton in the 80s.
Great piece.

Great article. I really enjoyed it. His experience was just like mine, except I was growing up in Syracuse and sneaking into SU games.

Nice article. My first college game was BC/Syracuse at what I will call Alumni Stadium 2 (same spot but a low filled-in horseshoe with a track around it; the track guys had to run behind the stands at one end to do a lap). Got the same feelings being in that place and even more so when I finally got to Fitton in high school.
Notable only for Ernie Davis playing in the game. In addition to his fine running he intercepted two passes and ran them back for scores, turning a 14-13 game into a 28-13 final.
