For any who might be interested, Bassett also ranks all D1 college football teams (FBS and FCS). Here are the ratings for HC, our opponents, and their opponents this week:
32 Boston College 69 Purdue 76 Yale 119 Penn 121 Colgate 124 Dartmouth 132 New Hampshire 133 Harvard 151 Holy Cross 173 Lehigh 178 Central Connecticut 194 Cornell 216 Brown 217 Fordham 222 Bucknell 235 Georgetown 240 Lafayette

Wow-- that #151 ranking is pretty sporty. I don't see how Bassett would have Yale at #76 as Sagarin had Yale at #123 last year when the Elis won the Ivy League championship. In Sagarin, our great win over Yale moved us from #205 to #195.

Starting to look like Laffy, Bucknell and Georgetown are truly awful and from what I saw Fordham is not much better. The ratings (above) really point to that
A close loss to Colgate and an OT win v Yale tells me (and everyone I'd imagine) that we are better than last year and that my prediction of 4 wins for the year was low.
In a league like the PL, CAA quality recruits can come right in and play (especially on special teams and at the speed/skill positions). A quality coach who the returning kids love will also close the margins with the presumptive PL favorites fast. Real fast. I think we are seeing (and will continue to see) both of those developments at Mount Saint James.

I'd like to see the PL throw down the gauntlet, allow as many schollies as the CAA, and allow non-medical redshirting. I just don't see any major downside to this. PL has basically committed to FCS scholarship football and most schools are now regularly playing BCS opponents, so this just seems an obvious next step if we really want to keep up among the best. An extra semester will really help these players spread out their course load and be able to achieve even more academically as well.
