The CAF paid for the acquisition of iPads for every player. Aside from replacing the paper playbook, has anyone heard how these are working out? Below is an ESPN article of Stanford being a first adopter of this technology five years ago. www.espn.com/blog/stanford-football/post/_/id/6803/cardinal-go-digital-with-playbookI realize its easy to distribute 'film' of past games and future opponents, but does HC analytically break out the 'film' say of the next opponent, for different position groupings, e.g., the secondary? Who at HC would do this. as I can't find any video coordinators on the football staff.

I hope they get the same folks to do the position breakout videos who do those videos we have been treated to before (and after) games.

One or two of the assistants are charged with all the film work...That would include video swap with opponents..All done digitally and on line these days...

I searched to see whether any FCS schools are using iPads in this way. I have yet to find one. The only schools I've found are Power 5 schools. HC would seem to be way ahead of the curve at its level. Kudos to Chesney, ADNP, and possibly FCTG if he was involved initially. (Gilmore was a computer sciences / math major at UPenn, and once told an interviewer that if he had gone into tech after graduating,....... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) For a rather disturbing Big Brother aspect of teams using iPads, in this instance South Carolina. 247sports.com/college/south-carolina/Article/South-Carolina-Gamecocks-football-coaches-track-players-iPad-film-study--120624208/

You should be studying film.

I assume that time on the ipad watching film would be a countable activity toward the 20 hour maximum per week.

You're going to be looking at film anyway - it's actually much more convenient to do it on your own time, and also not have to huddle into a film room, plus you can rewind and re-review as you wish. Easy to zone out during film sessions, particularly when the teaching by the coaches is targeted toward other players. Nothing at all "big brother" about it. This is how you win. Everything these guys do in monitored - diet, weight room, grades. Has been like this for eons.
FCTG could have made more money in tech? Maybe I guess. But unless I have a skewed perspective he did very well at HC salary-wise, compared to the rest of the US population.

Been awhile since you posted/analyzed the comparative spending on football between HC and the rest of the PL. I assume these iPads are not inexpensive....so, along with Chesney and the new staff, new practice equipment, etcetera, our expenditures have risen markedly in the last year, correct ?

When I was there the film would already be broken down by down and distance or situations - We'd watch just their primary blitz packages one day, 3rd and 1-4 another, etc.
This would an awesome thing to have for the players - I'm sure that they would have Hudl on their iPad and that the coaches could proactively push their position groups film they wanted them to be checking out almost in real time.
I think this is great.
