An outstanding athlete, person and teammate. And the 3.9 not too shabby either. Thanks for posting 'hoops, about a true Crusader.

The article on John Wendelken was spot on. John was an RA on Wheeler II my freshman year while he was doing graduate work. It probably took many of us on the floor months to learn of John’s academic and athletic prowess at HC...and, when we did, it was from people other than John. Much has been written and said over the years about role models. It would be tough to find one much better than John. Not surprising in the least that he is a highly rated teacher.

He certainly was a role model for this freshman team bench player when he was the star junior. Always had time and a kind word

He was also willing to talk to a young Crusader reporter - mostly about his teammates, never about himself.

A classmate that I will never forget. He was very personable and thoughtful while being a campus athletic hero. He had it all.

Someone among my contemporaries, confirm my recollection that he was radio color commentator on HC basketball games (WCHC? Local radio?)
